It took me a little while to get into the set, but it was pretty great by the end! {Spoiler} I am glad that The Doctor returns Benny to her own universe at the end of the set though as I couldn't really see the Unbound universe story-arc 'dragging on' for much longer...

I think that about sums up how I felt about this set. That last story was all around pretty great. I admit, though, {Spoiler} I was hopeful we might get another box set in the Unbound Universe so we could have an alternate reality historical. And I was also kind of hopeful we might explore another Unbound Universe, too - we still might! - but I'm also pretty interested to see what the Warner Doctor gets up to in Benny's universe. If there's not a meeting between him and the Seventh or Eighth Doctors, I think that will have been a huge missed opportunity.

Really enjoyed this one, so given the ending are we going to see the Unbound Doctor meet one of his counterparts in our universe?

I'm hugely enjoying this new boxset teaming Lisa Bowerman and David Warner again - Benny and the Unbound Third Doctor are fantastically well-matched for intelligence and mutual respect, a touch of cynicism about the (any) Universe and their enjoyably acerbic, witty backchat (what the Twelfth Doctor might well call 'banter'! ) And their shared talent for helping people in need with an almost effortless panache - when the Doctor concentrates, that is. Benny may be in the wrong Universe but she's as switched on and reliable as ever - but the Doctor is rather distracted by finding that being 'Ruler of the Universe' is even less fun than he imagined... The City and the ClockWhen I started following the exploits of Benny (only starting with the New Adventures boxsets) I imagined there would be more trowel-to-earth space archeology than it turned out, so I very much enjoyed Guy Adams' opening story for this new set. Prof. Summerfield is hard at work excavating the ruined city of a long-dead super-civilisation, with rumours of an immensely powerful artefact that might be very useful in a collapsing Universe - and with seriously spooky dead people who have no intention of staying that way... And it seems the Doctor couldn't care less! A great story which creates the atmosphere of the dig and its mysteries so well that I'll swear it sounded darker when the electric lights started to go out, one by one... Yes, very spooky and also funny before a final serious twist - because the Doctor (horror of horrors!) appears to be turning into... {Spoiler}an actual politician! (Sky darkens, lightning flashes, etc. ) From the personal drama 'cliff-hanger' ending it's fairly clear this set will be more linked than the last, a mission to save the Unbound Universe - but also one for Benny to understand and save the Doctor from his job! Asking for a FriendA very unusual and brilliant episode from James Goss; there are flashbacks of Doctor/Benny/assorted aliens in action, but mostly it's a contained two-person drama between the Doctor (or Benny) and a wonderful performance from Annette Badland as "the Doctor's shrink" (as Benny describes Therapist Guilana, with typical tact!) Someone is definitely getting into someone's head, but... I loved this episode, a humorous and mysterious journey of personal discovery - before a gripping final section of character drama about which I will say absolutely nothing more except it moves the overall Doctor/Benny arc along very well - and David Warner's Doctor, wow what a performance, from light banter to deep emotion. Excellent first half, can't wait to hear the second!

Do we know what point in Benny's life this takes place? Could still be the Collection days. Would love to hear Thomas Grant as Peter in the next set, and love the idea of the truly Unbound Doctor, unbound from his universe.
its really funny how in Truant the Doctor keeps looking for something to entertain him, but his position as President takes all the fun out of it. He can't even hijack a car without the driver willingly escorting him and making him risotto!

Finished The City and The Clock - another enjoyable story from guyadams. David Warner is perfect for this role, as is Lisa as Benny. Interplay between them is great and I loved the {Spoiler}DOCTOR: Have I the right ... BENNY: ...Oh, get out of my way! Brilliant! Cheers Tony

Finished this box at an episode a day. Great fun.
The cliffhanger only gives potential from here onwards! Multi Doctors? Another Doctor for River to meet? A meeting with our Third Doctor and UNIT?

I love the conversations Guy Adams and James Goss hold on the last disc. Alien archaeologists in the far future digging up relics of modern day Earth is not only a thought provoking concept, but would make for a great story. How would they interpret what they found? What conclusions would they draw? What would survive? Computer records would be a bit iffy on that front.

The cliffhanger only gives potential from here onwards! Multi Doctors? Another Doctor for River to meet? A meeting with our Third Doctor and UNIT? *Cough* {Modesty-Preserving 'Spoiler'...} I really want to hear a set or two of Warner's Unbound 3rd Doctor making it through to Benny's universe and having adventures with regular continuity Doctors. Great idea, maybe that could be New Benny 5? Or if they aren't making CDNM 3, we could have a special Classic Doctors, Unbound Doctor set. They brought the Time War into CDNM and the chaos from that must be the perfect excuse to have Doctors from overlapping universes meeting up. In my dream Third Doctor(s) story from CDUD, Tim Treloar and David Warner would appear in 'The Alt Doctors', hopefully by Guy Adams. 'So you see Jo, I might have been he and he might have been me... and I am.' 'And so am I.' 'Oh Doctor, this is worse than last time!!'

Another Doctor for River to meet? The David Warner Doctor, River Song, and Bernice Summerfield all in the same boxset? I think that's a pretty strong contender for "world's best idea ever"!
