I had really great idea for something that could happen in the Time War. There's a planet where exiled Time Lords (forced exile or self imposed, it doesn't really matter) are living on, and they are occupied by Weeping Angels. It's the perfect opportunity for them, as Time Lords are much tastier than races with shorter life spans and there could be ambiguity about whether the Time Lord being spoken to has already been sent back in time. The Angels can do more with a Time Lord population than any other. With the Time War affecting the laws of time, paradoxes wouldn't be so much of an issue. It'd explore more with the Angels, specifically them being in charge as previous stories have had them as scavengers, too weak to do anything or just too few in number to be an end of the world threat. The main conflict would arise with the Doctor arriving on this planet and the Angels scheming to get to Gallifrey.

This might be from something else, I'm not sure, but I had this really interesting idea for a story where the two sides of the conflict were one and the same. Some horrific catastrophe had left their planet a patchwork of varying time zones that linked their species' ancient past with its distant future. Each time someone from one of the time zones was killed, someone from the latter simply ceased to exist and no one was aware of it.
Made all the more complicated by those from the past segments disappearing as well because of individuals from the future that went native, so certain figures the future became vital to the ouroboros of bloodlines that emerged from this temporal meddling.

That's a really interesting concept. I had an idea of Time Lords holding out Zulu-style while trapped on a planet. The Daleks eventually overwhelm and kill them but the damaged TARDIS they have re-sets time to before the Daleks broke in, leading to the Daleks overwhelming and killing them over and over-a time loop. Being Time Lords each person involved could remember each death as well, but they keep on holding out and dying in the hopes rescue will eventually come. God that's quite bleak now that I spell it out.

God that's quite bleak now that I spell it out. Ooh, yes. In Zulu, they at least had an enemy that respected them enough to salute them. I can do one better though, the Daleks remember too and (being Daleks) learn to use each iteration to toy with the Time Lords so they make mistakes and become easy prey.

There's a chapter of the novel The Gallifrey Chronicles (written by Lance Parkin and the final book in the Eight Doctor range) that revisits The Ancestor Cell, the final book in the Second War in Heaven arc. There's one strategy used by the enemy's forces that I find fascinating:
However the Time Lords knew how to fight back:
So it's no surprise that:

I'd like to see more of the Taking of the Crucible where the Master fled from the War. I dont know why but i picture the Crucible being this Changing metallic diamond type thing that sits in orbit around a sun, but has this limited atmosphere around it. I just had this visual of The Master and a couple of other Time Lords running down its side and then changing direction as they ran, because of its shape

I am loving these suggestions and it just goes to show that there is a lot of potential for more Time War stories whether it be with the Eighth Doctor Adventures or the War Doctor Chronicles.

Having recently rewatched Underworld (I love it, go figure) I pondered the Daleks targetting Gallifrey's outer history, eliminating or recruiting/robotising races like the Minyans who had a fair knowledge of Time lords and working from there. The Quest is to exterminate! Not everything need be Omega/Rassilon class threats.

I'd love to see how Earth managed to stay out of the conflict. Considering the Earth has a pretty sizable influence at certain points of its history, one would expect it to draw the attentions of one (or both) sides in the War. Though, now I think about it, what if the War was the real reason for the solar flares that ravaged the planet and sent the population out into space in Arks/space cities?

That was dealt with in the third War Doctor set actually, well peripherally.

The Daleks make an attempt to breach said seal in the story.

Ahhhhh... sorry about that! I have very vague memories of listening to that one (I was only paying half attention), and it completely slipped my mind.

I would have no problem if Big Finish cast a younger War Doctor to chronicle his early battles just after his regeneration.

I would have no problem if Big Finish cast a younger War Doctor to chronicle his early battles just after his regeneration. I'm opposed to recasting the War Doctor, I'm not entirely sure I want to see too much of the time war explored, and the replacement actor would likely end up having much more performance time as the War Doctor than Hurt did, I'd rather the War Doctor was explored in novels or short trips etc. Also, I'm fairly certain the BBC would probably frown on the idea of Big Finish (or Titan comics etc) pushing the Doctor too dark/in a bloodied solder direction, it's heavily implied the younger War Doctor did some pretty terrible things 'in the name of peace and sanity' (something I understand the charity anthology 'Seasons Of War' explores in great detail) more so than his later self in the closing days of the conflict..as much as I've enjoyed the BF War Doctor sets I couldn't help but feel the War Doctor was more neutered than I'd expected and I'm wondering if the BBC blocked BF from pushing the Doctor in too drastic a direction. With Sir Hurt having sadly passed away, I think a better tribute to the War Doctor would be writing around Hurt's absence but remembering the character as he played it, rather than recasting the role to just plug a gap and explore an area that is perhaps better left shrouded in mystery (especially if the BBC aren't overkeen on it being explored in the depth and darkness it deserves)

The Timelords with the best of intentions want to keep certain worlds safe. Perhaps they have identified them as culturally significant or places of natural beauty. So they try to freeze them in time, so that once the Time War is over they can be "defrosted", but of course things go wrong... Amber The Doctor encounters a girl who's world was the focus of the Timelords ”Ice-periment”. (Sorry) She was only young when it happening travelling in a craft off world with her parents when they were caught in the blast. Her mother and father died, but she lived on with her body frozen in time. Many years later she encounters the Doctor. She is now a woman still in the body of a young girl. Even though her body will never grow up her mind has matured along with her hatred for the Timelords who stole her childhood and condemned her to never be able to experience adulthood.

Actually I'd be seeding odd events and occurrences throughout the lives of the first 8 Doctors and their releases that later could be dealt with as being effects of the Time War in a special release, even if it was Ten doing the discovering. His equivalent of UXB.

Had that recommended to me, must check it out. I highly recommend it. If not for the amazing comic, then for their interviews with Colin Baker and Gary Russell, and the ever elusive Alan Moore. There's so much packed into a single issue it always surprises me.
