I just saa Volume 2 at the cinema and I don't get why people say it's not as good as the first one. I prefer it to volume one! I laughed a lot more at the sequel's jokes overall than the first movie's.
What about everyone else on here? Which do you prefer?

Volume 2 just pips it for me. Its great watching the characters grow.
And the fact i saw it as a double bill worked so well. It does feel consistent and almost like one film

She goes from wanting to kill Gamora one minute to joining her side the next. |

Volume 2 is the better film for me. Humour, effects and character development. Not that Vol.1 was particularly lacking in those but I just think Vol.2 gelled better

She wanted to win, to prove that she was an equal to her and to hunt down and destroy what Gamora embodied. As she said, she just wanted a sister. None of the other crap they were both saddled with. Volume 2 for me. Marvel's sequel films always manage to impress me, they've passed the assembly of their characters and moved instead towards discovering more about them. I really liked that. Plus the cast is simply just stunning from Elizabeth Debicki's almost feline High Priestess Ayesha to cameos from Michelle Yeoh and Sylvester Stallone. Even Ben Browder as the Sovereign Admiral, which just tickles the sci-fi buff in me like Claudia Black and Kate Mulgrew turning up in Dragon Age Origins. It's a genuine heaping of fun, everything is working for it and I sincerely hope it ages well because it deserves to be remembered as a classic. |

That one was great, but reminded me of some Marvel Comics in that whilst I do enjoy reading Marvel comic strips some of the end panels feel like they should have been elsewhere in the story. |

I think volume one is the better movie simply because it has this almost giddy innocence to it. Volume two is very much a sequel. Beats from the first film are repeated. It's bigger. Way bigger. And for volume two the middle of the movie seems to sag under the weight of all the plate spinning. I adore volume one. I simply loved volume two. That said, give me more Drax & Mantis. Michael Rooker is amazing. And Kurt Russell...and was that the best CGI de-aging you all have ever seen or what?

I'm afraid I can't entirely agree with that, the original series also had the honour of superb actors that went onto become even bigger masters of their trade, household names and known both here and across the pond. For instance, Tim Pigott-Smith, Pauline Collins, Martin Jarvis, Hywel Bennett and Martin Clunes proves that it isn't just the revival. |
