Nope. He probably has his review copy. I am silly. Silly is good. We should all take the time to be more silly.

Silly is good. We should all take the time to be more silly. If that wasn't an Eleventh Doctor line to pop some pompous, deadly serious villain's ego, it should have been.

Its out now so:
Very good indeed. one that may need a listeners time and focus on (not one for a Work Out listen perhaps)
Some thoroughly nasty examples of humanity, an interesting take on Ole Sixy, and Flip and Constance (Miranda and Lisa well we really are lucky aren't we?) brilliant performances both.

It's quite enjoyable! A very fun story with a dark twist halfway through. Constance and Flip are a great team, Colin is as on point as ever, and we're getting a TARDIS crew for the Sixth that's the best since the OG BF team of Six and Evelyn.

Is it just me who thinks that this trilogy is gearing up to retire Constance? Initially I thought that this team would continue into next year, with us then getting another Six and Post Trial Peri Trilogy in 2019, but after Constance’s comments about leaving in this story and then the fact that the Middle is named after the stage of life that Constance is labelled with in the trailer for that story (Flip being the beginning and the Doctor the End), and then in addition to that, the trailer for Static implies Constance is killed (obviously we don’t know the context of that yet), it feels like this trilogy is very Connie-centric and might be leading up to her departure.

I've wondered that and all I can say is: I hope not. The redoubtable Mrs. Clarke is an excellent companion and makes a priceless pairing with the irrepressible Flip. Several more triliogies please!

What is with the Find & Filter options for Flip and Constance? Because they are credited differently on different releases we get a situation where:
Flip: The Behemoth Flip Jackson: Crimes, Curse of Davros through Quicksilver. No The Middle or Static. Constance Clarke: Criss-Cross through Quicksilver. Mrs Constance Clarke: The Behemoth. No The Middle or Static.
(For all settings Coming Soon is empty.)

Thinking about it a bit more, I would (have?) liked to have seen those the other way round. Six and Peri in 2018, to give us a break, before Constance's final trilogy in 2019.

Just finished up. A small and beautiful story by Marc Platt that brings to mind the style of early Who's historicals with a subject matter that is served well by its direct telling. The characterisation is -- as always -- absolutely marvellous as are the images conjured up. That final image of the Doctor with Flip on the sinking ship is wonderfully evocative. I really like the subtlety of the Doctor and Middlemint's outing to the coffeehouse. What he considers to be a soothing of souls, Theodosia considers to be rather different. There's this charming little trend of Sixie being a midwife to other people's misery, always keeping in mind what it feels like to be unvalued and forgotten. On the other side of the spectrum, we have a despicably extant antagonist in Balsam. You know, if he were born of this particular age, I'd imagine he'd buy kittens to drown them in crab traps. An effectively disgusting little man. And the cravenly Titus, well, he's certainly groanworthy (too much? ). I love the dignity of the African characters, there's a quiet nobility to them that you just have to admire. Ironically, they demonstrate a greater deservingness to nobility than the English characters of Balsam and Craven. The conclusion of Theodosia's thread is gloriously satisfying. And finally, at the end, the slaves are free. Really, truly free. There's a nice little touch in regard to audio fidelity. I'm not entirely when it began to show up, I think it was round about the time that The Elite was released. The reverb for scenes recorded "in studio" are different to those "on location". I've missed this. An absolute joy.
