Well, after all that....the next nine titles have been announced. The Lovecraft Problem - Sixie meets Howard and Cthulhu turns out to be a bit more than a fictional character? *fingers crossed* 😊 That or it’s a documentary presented by Colin in character as the Doctor about Lovecraft whilst explaining and ultimately condemning the writers questionable views on race. Only joshing but I really like the sounds of these.

It's the Lovecraft one that really catches the eye there. BF have their share of Lovecraftian stories but it'd be nice if we get to meet the man himself. We did hear C.P. Doveday in Lurkers At Sunlight's Edge, who was clearly a take off on Lovecraft.
The Taking Of Planet 5 from the 8th Doc books isn't just Lovecraft like but establishes some of the creatures like Elder Things being real in the Who world. McGann's Doc knew Lovecraft then. I'm looking foward to that. There's something more Lovecraft-like about the Seventh Doctors adventures to me though, than the Sixths. Maybe it's the whole "evil from the dawn of time", Fenric and Gods Of Ragnarok from Greatest Show kinda vibe.

You may be joshing but you do have a valid point (while I knew Lovecraft had questionable views, a quick search online has opened my eyes wide to just how objectionable those views were). If Big Finish were brave enough to tackle it head on, who better than Colin as Sixie in full righteous fury to rip the author a new one?

And to make those horrific views something which drives the narrative.

I "knew" he had some objectionable views that came through often in his work and that as such he may have had some bigger, darker beliefs in private but WOW. He was not keeping things too private after all, there's one of his poems with just a title so disgusting I wouldn't be able to write it here. Just a 10 minute dive online and man...Lovecraft makes Orson Scott Card look like a "SJW snowflake".

Delighted more Main Range titles have been announced. Though the details are still sketchy it’s enough for me to take out another 6 month sub after February.
And yes it’s the Lovecraft title that jumps out to me too. There are various ways they could go with that. But I’d be very impressed if they tackled his racist views,

Would be interesting if 6 dealt with Lovecraft and his racism only for 7 to move on to Richard Wagner in The Flying Dutchman to deal with his anti-Semitism.

So assuming the October-December trilogy is McCoy's, and assuming the Main Range is switching it box sets after #275 in March 2021, then the big question is who gets the final trilogy?
Will it be Colin, or will it go out with one last three Doctors trilogy?
Obviously there isn't any guarantee that the change is coming after #275. Only a theory that happens to fit the current facts.

I feel like if 275 really is the end of the Main Range - and we'll just have to wait and see - they'd have to end it on a multi-Doctor, wouldn't they? What about doing a kind of Best Of trilogy? 273. Six, Constance and Flip start off a story... 274. Seven, Ace and Hex deal with the consequences... 275. Then Five, Nyssa, Tegan and Marc finish off the tale in an adventure where they meet the Eighth Doctor and Charley! Throw D.I. Menzies and the Forge in there and we just might have something!

Sigh, I find this talk of the MR ending all very depressing, especially if the end it for more bloomin'box sets.

All we know for sure is that it has been split into 3 production teams, 1 per Dr, behind the scenes. Everything else is uninformed speculation
Whatever we end up with it will likely be a case of "It's the Main Range Jim, but not as we know it"

I suspect, possibly, single disc releases like the TW monthlys. We know Nick is a fan of this format over the 4 partners, even though it's the other way round with David R.

Here's a question: If the main range does indeed stop altogether (which I think unlikely) or if the subscription model changes (which I think a bit more likely) how will folks be able to buy The Four Doctors and the Five Companions, which BF have said will never be sold any other way than as a MR subscriber bonus / free gift?

Interesting, that's not what the site said when I posted that. I'd hazard a guess that 268 as "Last" was a typo on the site, and perhaps the Lovecraft one was the title in a previous draft?
