It was confirmed a few months back that BF were currently writing or planning out the scripts for the next run of stories following Doom Coalition 4, hopefully we will get some news or story titles soon.
While we wait I thought I'd start a thread for general discussion, so;
Where do you see/want Helen/Liv's/The Doctors stories to develop from here on? What kind of scale/tone would you like to see? Any characters or villains you'd like to hear return? (I'd like to hear 8 encounter The Rocket Men at some point)
(Dark Eyes felt like a psychological thriller/war story to me, Doom Coalition was a massive epic with political undertones, hopefully this next set of boxsets will be yet another contrast)
Any other thoughts or theories?

With Doom Coalition focusing on the Time Lords, I would like the sequel to move away from Gallifreyan Mythology. However, saying that, I'd love to see the return of the Eleven, the Rani and maybe even Susan. I think that I'd like the tone to be similar to Doom Coalition, and Helen and Liv to play a prominent role. Also, maybe a new series monster/villain/character would be fun.

I imagine that at least the first box set will focus on Eight and Liv searching for Helen, which will lead to the reintroduction of Helen and the Eleven at the end of the First Box Set. From there I’d like to see something a bit more low key that Doom Coalition happen, but also include a sort of all star cast with the Master, Rani and other recurring characters. I definitely want to see a continuation of the Doctor’s story with the Monk.

I wonder who the writers will be. The last three Eighth Doctor boxsets have been written by Matt Fitton & John Dorney (DC3, DC4 & TW1) so I am expecting at least another couple of writers in the next set.
That is not be complaining about the writing far, far from it - simply a thought.
I am expecting more of the Eleven and perhaps even the Twelve & the Thirteen in the box sets to come!?
And as has already been suggested I too would like a more satisfying meeting between the Eighth Doctor and the Meddling Monk whether that be the Hound or Garden variety.

Not sure how controversial this is, but I think Liv needs to leave soon. She's been the companion through Dark Eyes and Doom Coalition, giving her 28 episodes over 3+ years. In a range that is aiming for a continuing story-line.
In my option the New Series has taught us that a companion can only last up to two years. (Though even that is theoretical, because we have yet to see a companion who can go beyond 1.5 before they've been there too long.*) Also, in modern-TV-storytelling, it is rare that a character can last beyond two arcs.
It is only because Big Finish makes such a variety of ranges, Doctor Who and otherwise, and that Dark Eyes and Doom Coalition were both "epics", that I am not tired of Liv already. I think that she should leave at the end of the "rescue Helen" arc (two box sets, maybe three). Perhaps Liv and Helen could leave together, at that point, to conclude the arc of their developing relationship? I could go longer with Helen, though.
*Not sure how much of that is due to incarnations of The Doctor only lasting 3-4 years, though.

I like Liv more, but I find Helen more interesting, as epic as it was DC ended a touch too clean I wouldn't mind if the 1st sequel Boxset to end on a permanent departure or death for 1 of them.

I don’t know. When you have performers like Nicola Walker and Hattie Morahan playing interesting characters that clearly work so well with Paul McGann, I think you keep them around as long as it makes sense to. I don’t feel like the character arcs for either Liv or Helen are close to being done, so if everyone is game and the writers still have interesting stuff planned, well, you ride the train until it is done. I don’t know why anyone would want to impose some arbitrary line of so many episodes as companion, so it’s time to go kind of thing.

I was aiming for "this is how long Liv has been around for, and these are the (imo) general trends for how long a companion/character can stay before they've stayed too long (given the continuing/"train" storytelling). They are, of course, only trends. I am starting to tire of Liv, however. And the risk of a train that goes too long is that (however good) people may not be willing to get on the next. Also, while that is an apt metaphor, I wonder how applicable another is - a third train with the same three "hosts", where part of the point is that the hosts change ... fairly regularly?

Considering we are listening to adventures with the classic Doctors and the same companions they had 30+ and 40+ years ago, I think 28 hours isn't that huge a number. I'm of the feeling that Liv has become one of the best companions in the history of the show and a lot of that goes down to Nicola Walker. When you have that kind of performer, you keep them around as long as it makes sense.

I don't think they'll be kicking Nicola Walker out of the TARDIS anytime soon, unless they already had more Big Finish appearances planned for her.
Personally I like Liv and Helen, especially together, and think they've probably got a few more box sets in them before it starts getting stale. Then they should probably leave together for a clean break.
I do hope that BF gives the trio a chance to travel free of arcs for a while though, so we can slot in more adventures (as we already could for Liv between Dark Eyes & Doomco)

If/when Liv and Helen do get written out I'm hoping McGann gets another male companion, been more than a decade since C'Rizz.

I’m just wondering when it’ll be released. I was expecting it to be in the usual March slot seeing as were apparently meant to have three box sets a year now, so I thought having a DC Sequel Box Set in March and November made sense, with the Time War Set in between, in July.
But considering that it hasn’t actually been announced yet, we’re running out of time for it to get that March slot, I don’t think Big Finish ever announce things this close to the release.

Sometimes they do announce things two months before. A recent example would be Blake's 7 series 3, announced mid-May, released July.

I had exactly the same thought unless the 1st one's been recorded in absolute secret (simlair to the sessions with Derek Jacobi) it is going to a tight release timetable.
As for closet from announcement to release Torchwood Archive was 1st announced with only a month's notice before release.

During Doom Coalition, I was kind of feeling like I'd be fine if Liv left soon since she's now been around for so long, but with the Time War boxsets breaking up the new Eight/Liv/Helen series it might help to make that team still feel fresh and interesting. So, yeah, I'm down for Liv staying for a bit, she's a great companion and hasn't quite outstayed her welcome yet, but we'll see how it goes when the new series comes along.

I'm all against getting rid of Liv at this stage. Why part with Nicola Walker? And with Eight's history of losing companions, it's actually a novel thing for him to have such a long standing one? She'd my favorite companion of his since Lucie, who left all to early IMO. Let's not start looking for ways to say goodbye quite yet and enjoy all the stories we can with her.

The Eighth Doctor already has a new companion with Bliss in the Time War so I would be happy for Liz to continue on with him in this Doom Coalition follow up series.

Totally agree about keeping Liv around. I am still enjoying Nicola Walker's performance as Liv.
