I've missed something somewhere along the line - are the contents of the UK releases different from what's on the North American sets? I've been getting the ones that are produced here. They come in standard packaging rather than the big box ( example), but apart from the stupid naming scheme they went with for Region A, I was under the impression that content-wise, they're the same? Yeahhhhh I was wondering about the same thing. Talons is fun, and our intro to the wonderful J&L, so it's a shame it's marred by such blatant racism. You're just a bit ahead of us in North America! Season 26 (or "Sylvester McCoy: Complete Season Three" blah) is out on March 24, last I checked. They are the same, content-wise. I just prefer the UK packaging and getting them earlier than the US releases! Plus, I don't want to run the chance of the US releases getting discontinued due to lack of sales. I figured the UK releases would be a safer bet. Seems counterproductive. If people in the states buy the UK releases then US sales will go down which may lead to them being discontinued.

Lol i love these trailers They sum up the range to me - they're going above and beyond every time making sure you don't just pre-order but you do so with a smile on your face and some new Who on your screen. They could easily produce a standard trailer; well edited, dramatic, show off the packing and the features (like the trailers that come out just pre-release)...but they make these lovely little sketches that really put the show on the pedestal it deserves. The Ace one is my favourite so far, maybe for being "in-universe" like the amazing S10 with Jo and Cliff. We should have a thread speculating on what the trailers for each season will be!

Did we actually post the new extras?
Brand new audio commentaries - Tom Baker and Matthew Sweet on selected episodes of The Face of Evil and The Talons of Weng-Chiang. (AMAZING!)
Behind the Sofa - New episodes with Tom Baker, Louise Jameson, Philip Hinchcliffe, plus companions Sophie Aldred and Peter Purves. (Purves and Aldred will be fun)
Our Sarah Jane – Elisabeth Sladen Tribute - A feature-length look at the life and career of Sarah Jane Smith, played by Elisabeth Sladen. (This'll be beautiful)
Whose Doctor Who Revisited - Toby Hadoke meets the producers and grown-up stars of the very first Who Documentary. (Toby does these better than anyone)
In Conversation - Matthew Sweet chats to producer Philip Hinchcliffe. (Matthew is brilliant at finding new questions, so this'll be fresh)
Blu-ray trailer - Louise Jameson has trouble with her new home assistant.
Brand new interviews Rare archive material
Convention footage
HD photo galleries, Scripts, costume designs, rare BBC production files and other gems from our PDF archive (anyone who doesn't have a bluray drive, get one just for the thousands - and I mean thousands - of docs that are sourced and scanned by Richard Bignell. These are REAL treasure)

If any future Series 17 release doesn't feature a trailer with a stand-off between Erato, a Mandrel and a Nimon, I'll be very disappointed!

I was just talking to Audio Watchdog about it last night, he does the same - the really thick booklets with all of Peter McTighe's great copy and the stunning artwork throughout, as well as getting it 3 months early, were the same kinda reasons he was saying for not even considering the Region A ones - and no doubt will when he pops in later! Yup. Yup. Yup. The UK editions are beautiful box sets, the US releases just look like everything else on the shelves. My copy is already pre-ordered.

Has Tom Baker lost weight?

Season 14 is just one of the all time greats, isn’t it? Glad that it’s getting The Collection treatment and can’t wait to get stuck into the new special features. Some more Tommentaries is a real treat and I’m sure the Elisabeth Sladen documentary will be wonderful. Matthew Sweet’s interviews continue to be a highlight of the range and I’m glad to see he’s tackling the crew as well as the cast.
I loved the Home Assistant sketch. I thought the actual trailer was a bit weak, though I can’t quite put my finger on it. Mentioning the updated special effects and not showing them probably didn’t help, especially when it was shots from three different stories.
Roll on April!

Doctor Who fans remain Doctor Who fans and will be buying this. Personally I took Tom's narration literally...wait for it...

Oh dear, that trailer is wonderful. It's getting to the point that I anticipate the trailer for these releases almost as much as the release itself.
The extras look great. I can already tell that the Liz Sladen documentary is going to really pull the heart strings.

I’m not saying that it’ll stop people ordering, but I think it matters that they’re making a trailer actively promoting the set and not actually showing what is being promoted. It isn’t as if the other features were done that way; they all showed what Tom was saying. It’s not the end of the world, but I felt the trailer was lacking and tried to explain why. I think you took that particular sentence out of the context of my post.

It did show new effects - that's most certainly not the infamous rat we see, it's been touched up to be less...well, what we know. And the laser from Ep 6 of Talons is updated too, that's not the same shot. Niel Bushnell says Talons has got over 50 new effects shots.

I'd hate to have to go hunting to find something wrong with such a lovely trailer.

From what can been seen in the trailer, the rat looks good to me. I like that they kept the images very dark rather than try to brighten it up to show off the new effects. The rat looks quite sinister and menacing in the shadows.

Hello again.
Oh you lucky, lucky people you are the chosen ones, the elite, especially selected to enjoy Classic Doctor Who on a new-fangled sparkly Bluray. Hope you all enjoy one of the best Classic Who seasons when it's released and the extras. Loved the trailer, though I think I'll pass on the V14 home assistant.

The rat looks quite sinister and menacing in the shadows. It's actually rather unsettling now. That's some brilliant composition. Is it wrong that I'd actually watch a Jeeves and Wooster-style series with Louise Jameson and her Home Assistant? (Guest starring Sutekh as a nosy neighbour.)

Nah, Blu-ray was obsoleted when the first 4K UHD discs hit shelves in 2016
