I wonder if we'll get a new Sixth Doctor theme at some point?

Why specifically the Sixth?

Why specifically the Sixth? While I understand all the fervour of using the Trial theme (the Sixth Doctor era continues beyond the court room), Six now has him own distinct eras at Big Finish. I can't imagine that a new listener wouldn't get excited at hearing a new version of the theme (and knowing Big Finish, it would still be very era appropriate).

Sixie's life is so much more than he ever got on TV, and extends way beyond Trial of a Time Lord. I'd be receptive to Big Finish giving him a unique theme.

Hm. Thinking about it, it would have been cool if he'd gotten a different one a long time ago - one for his later adventures, including Mel stories. But with Mel using the Trial theme, it would seem weird if he switched themes back and forth.

If Seven can have a different theme for the Novel Adapations (which a lot of listeners were coming to for the first time), Six can have a different theme for his stories. The Trial theme can still act as a nice bookend to Big Finish's expansion of the character in The Last Adventure.

Why specifically the Sixth? An argument could be made that the sixth Doctor is so different on audio to his TV incarnation that a unique theme would be suitable for the character.

I quite like the Trial theme, but I'm always a fan of adding new themes, so why not, I guess? (And separately, I miss Seven's Damaged Goods theme.) Also, yeah, I don't work for Big Finish. I've just written a small story that hasn't even been recorded yet. They don't know me from Adam Mitchell.

I think the two themes are enough for Ol' Sixie. I like them both, even though Glynn admits how much of a rush job his version was, I still think it worked out OK.
Now, I do think some of Dominic's Glynn's re-workings of his version of the theme decades later, those are fine and I actually would be fine if BF adopted one of them. But I'm still fine with his original.

Since we've already had Colin's final adventure using one of his exisiting themes, I'm struggling to see any need - at all - for this. At least Sylv's VNA theme made sense as the novels are almost an elseworlds thing. Likewise McGann's Mary Shelley theme being closer to the TV Movie, reflecting him being much closer to that film than his adventures with Lucie or Charley were.
Just seems a rather redundant use of resources.

I don't think there's a *need* for one but I certainly would be against the idea, although I'd hope that any version would sound like it could have been produced in the 80s. A few years ago - and I can't remember where - I came across an edit of the Terror Version which had been sliced to opening and closing theme lengths. It worked rather well as I recall. I could see that as the theme for, say, a self-contained, themed Sixie box-set or something like that.

They don't know me from Adam Mitchell. Just at the moment... that's someone you'd want people to know you're not. Sadly.
