...for the 12th Doctor era?
With Twice Upon A Time having now aired, surely the BBC must have re-negotiated Big Finish's contract now to include the Twelfth Doctor era?
And if so, when are they going to announce it?
I hope they announce it soon. Whilst they wait to get Peter Capaldi on-board, I'd love a new Classic Doctors, New Monsters set with Capaldi era monsters.

I can't understand why Big Finish haven't sorted something out already. I mean, it's been almost 60 hours since Capaldi stopped playing the Doctor.

Well the current license goes through to 2025 and only covers up to the end of the 11th Doctor era...so perhaps they could fit in a silent off-screen cameo from the 12th Dr's eyebrows... I'd imagine it will probably be a few years before BF considers extending their current license to cover the 12th Dr as they have barely scratched the surface of what they can do with 9th-11th Dr era/characters, Capaldi has indicated he's consider doing Bf audios further down the line but probably wants a break of a few years to give Jodie a chance to make the role her own, on the other hand I swear I read somewhere that there is now only two license for Who 'classic who' covering all previous Doctors, and the current license for the current Dr which is now Jodie, BF has a good relationship with the BBC so they could probably negotiate the rights sooner rather than later if they felt it was the right thing to do.

By all accounts, Big Finish didn't get the rights to the Ecclestone-Smith eras until August 2014, eight months after Matt Smith's departure. There's absolutely no reason to assume that it will take any less time with the Capaldi stuff. Basically, this will undoubtedly happen at some point. But given the current output Big Finish has (chocked full with VERY exciting releases), I don't see why we should be looking that far ahead just yet. We've got Time War Doctors, Masters, and Gallifreys, Tales from New Earth and those of Jenny, Churchill, and Vastra, even the Third Doctor is 'properly' encountering the Cybermen for the first time! No offence to him, but we don't need Capaldi just yet

So the sooner they get the licence, the happier I'll be.

I don't see the rush. We've got tons of new series stuff to look forward to in the immediate future (River 3, Tales of New Earth, Churchill Years 2, Gallifrey: Time War, Tenth Doctor Chronicles, UNIT 6, Jenny, Eighth Doctor: Time War 2, the Jackie Tyler short trips), so I don't think there's an immediate need for Capaldi's era to join the party. Give us a while to miss Capaldi's era before trying to bring elements over into Big Finish.

I'd rather have proper Eleventh or Twelfth Doctor audios from Big Finish before any New Earth, Jenny, Churchill, UNIT or Jackie Tyler Short Trips. I'm not saying those releases won't be good, but when all is said and done Doctor Who is about the Doctor so the quicker Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi join the BF ranks, the better.

There is still a rich vein of new series content BF have the rights to they haven't even touched yet. Remember, it took six and a half years between Tennant leaving the role and his first Big Finish adventures, and Capaldi only really left the role three days ago. They should be in no rush at all.
Next year we're getting River meeting the Fourth and Fifth Doctors, Gallifrey: Time War, more from the War Master, Jenny and David Bradley's First Doctor. It's not as if we're being short-changed on new series material.

It will happen when it happens. I'm sure there will always be interest on Big Finish's part that it happens sooner rather than latter but that decision lies with the BBC to amend and/or extend the license and for Peter Capaldi to decide if/when he wants to come back to the role. Then to make time in his schedule. To make time in Matt Lucas's schedule. Pearl Mackie's schedule. Michelle Gomez's schedule. See where I'm going here? That said, I'll be lining up once they announce anything with the 12th Doctor.

You could have many combinations with 12: 12 and Clara 12, Clara and Missy 12, Clara and Ashildr 12 and River Song (during the 24 years on Darillium) 12 and Nardole 12, Nardole and Missy 12 and Bill 12, Bill and Nardole 12, Bill, Nardole and Missy

We know Big Finish wants to have every one of the Doctors recording as much as their schedules will allow but it isn't just up to Big Finish. We need to be patient. It will happen when it happens.

Both are busy performers and Gomez resides in the US. And again with the understanding that Big Finish will gladly produce those ranges as soon as the BBC will allow them to. So again with being patient. It will happen when it happens.

Given the reasons he gave for deciding to leave I doubt Capaldi has any interest in playing the Doctor again any time soon. (I find it particularly telling that he didn't do any publicity for his last episode that wasn't made at the same time as it was being shot.)
I bet we get a Bill and Heather series long before that happens.

(I find it particularly telling that he didn't do any publicity for his last episode that wasn't made at the same time as it was being shot.) What reasons? A quick Google makes it seem mostly like "Doctor Who is a lot of time and hard physical work" which performing for Big Finish most definitely is not. I like to think Capaldi could return one day, and I wouldn't be surprised if Big Finish is already working on it but we have no idea the legal complications of licensing and dealing with the Beeb. Could be a while.

With all the series they have going already. I think they may wait until some series have finished for possibly good before they announce something like that

Could be a while. He's talked about not wanting to repeat himself and there being only so many ways to say "The Universe is about to explode!"; so he's coming across to me as someone who'd happy he got the chance to play the part but equally happy to leave it behind him.
