Big Finish is good but they're not magicians (or as far as I know they're not). Give them some time.

The range that would best benefit from this is the New Series UNIT. There's big thing that happen in the Twelfth Doctor era that contractually can't be used or referenced. The whole Zygon thing is rich pickings, and the excuse for twice the Osgood. One Osgood could leave a message only the other Osgood can decipher.

The latest vortex says that Capaldi’s agent has been contacted but he’s taking a break from the role.
I guess that answers the licensing question.

And I'd rather think, "official channels" aside, that Briggsy must have at least mentioned at some point to Peter that there was an open door for him with BF.
I'd actually be more excited at the prospect of further 12 stories than 11. (not that wouldn't get BF Smith stories, mind you, I just liked Capaldi's Doctor better)

Any Capaldi 12th Dr audios would be an instant pre-order for me.

The latest vortex says that Capaldi’s agent has been contacted but he’s taking a break from the role. I guess that answers the licensing question. Then why don't they just confirm the license has been extended to include the 12th Doctor era? It's kind of annoying if they're just going to quietly confirm it without a proper news item on the site.

They'll announce it when they're good and ready All previous announcements are when new products are 100% happening, while there isn't necessarily anything ready from the 12th Doctor era yet. Have patience

That would be nice but then if they did people might pester them for updates.
I also think they are still trying to decide what they are going to do for the Main Range in the future... I've been sort of expecting/hoping for another extended subscription offer that would go further into their license period... The last one they did, which I bought, goes up to the end of next year. So far, no news beyond that.

It's kind of annoying if they're just going to quietly confirm it without a proper news item on the site. Well, as has already been stated, it appears that there are only 2 types of licence now, "current era" and "past era's". As such, there was nothing to announce, no licence deal, nothing extended, 12 is now the past and so licensed. And anyway, why would they announce something like this until they had some content to announce?

It's kind of annoying if they're just going to quietly confirm it without a proper news item on the site. Because as with Jenny Boxset news BF and BBC Worldwide agree an announcement timetable plus if actors are saying "We're doing offer stuff but we won't loose your number" BF probably don't want them thinking with announcements "If this goes wrong I've always got BF" rather then " That job was great now let's have a change of pace and revisit the Whoniverse with BF"

Blooming heck, talk about impatient!
Why would big finish renegotiate the contract and pay more to use an actor who is unwilling to continue playing the role for a while.
Makes no sense, there is not a great amount of new avenues that could be explored without the doctor, so the current licence is fine until they get the nod that Capaldi will do some.
We are so lucky so many doctors continue on, as much as they do.....how many of us would keep returning to a job we quit....
Personally i would much rather BF work with the classic doctors & companions while we have them rather than tenuous new series stuff like new earth etc.
I want a 4th doctor chrismas box set, a 7th final adventure, 4th with adric, proper 7th with benny adventures,......oh so much really
Let’s leave the new series stuff till we can get proper adventures, although new series short trips would be nice

In Nick's Facebook Q&A (that he's really very frank in), he confirms that Peter wants a break from the role but that BF are going to be asking to use the era and elements, lead actor or no, just as they do with Eccleston and Smith.
Also confirmed Matt has said no to doing BF twice, Six and Peri will be returning together, The Eighth Doctor will feature in Charley's series, Pathfinders and Terrahawks are done, and about a thousand "just imagines".

An impromptu "Ask Me Anything" on Nick's Facebook. I've asked him about the Twelfth Doctor license ("We can do Twelfth Doctor stuff") and the podcast competition.
