I know, I'm just saying I'd be totally shocked if Christopher Eccleston ever agrees to do Big Finish. I'm glad they're going to keep asking but I think many of us in this fandom would be surprised if he ever said yes. If Nick is able to get Chris back as Nine (that's a huge If), Nick will have gotten two of the big three Doctors in. He got Tom, while Paul's been around for years doing a marvelous job with Eight. Maybe that's part of Nick's desire. He did say getting atom on board was one of his goals. I'd have counted Sir John Hurt as one of the big 3, from the real world perspective (as opposed to the fan perspective) he is probably the biggest of all

I just love how every year Big Finish are expanding , it's awesome..! Given how many stories they produce, and how acclaimed the famous lunches are, perhaps they should expand into the restaurant business...

As I understand things McGann only found out about Big Finish after they were brought up in an interview, apparently his agent at the time (who was Janet Fielding I think) turned down Big Finish without really talking to him about it, assuming he wouldn't be interested/reasoning radioplays were the wrong move for his career at the time (well, that's what I read on GB), McGann was (and remains to an extent) quite a high profile and very busy character actor at the time, quite a coup for BF to sign him only 15 or so stories into the run. Tom Baker was hugely popular as the Doctor and played the role for 7 largely happy years, although he had several high profile roles and was always working after he left Who staying in the role for so long arguably left him typecast, returning to play the Doctor on audio in his 80's whilst semi-retired is a very different situation to Eccleston who remains a very busy character actor and had a huge career before he signed on for the single series (a series fraught with overuns, troubled production/budget issues and numerous script rewrites) a series in which his Doctor underwent a complete 180 degrees character arc, perhaps Eccleston feels he doesn't have much more he could do with the part. I actually think it's probably more likely we'll see him return on TV first now. There aren't any ties left in the TV crew to Series 1 any more now Moffat has stepped down as showrunner, and Chris Chibnall's rumoured to have brought in a completely new team of people. If he's still showrunner by 2023, it's possible Christopher Eccleston might feel more open to returning and if he were to have a better experience on set this time it may result in him feeling more positive overall about Doctor Who.

I think you are overestimating his interest in Dr Who! I get the impression it was just one role among many the actor chose to do. He has moved on.

It's just a point I thought I'd raise that a TV return might be slightly more likely under Chibnall. I can't see him ever doing Big Finish because I doubt he'd want to play the Doctor again on a yearly basis.

I think it’s a while until we get full cast 12th Doctor stories and I’m slightly glad about that as it allows me to miss and appreciate Capaldi and his era
However I wouldn’t mind if after the Eleventh Doctor Chronicles are out then the Twelfth Doctor gets added to the Doctor Chronicles range

I think the first Twelfth Doctor-era thing BF is likely to do will pertain to the UNIT boxsets, which up until now have had to be set pre-Day of the Doctor.

We need time between the Doctors. & it is now time for 11 on audio. NOW IS THE TIME!
