Never seen it. Not a fan of the 1st & 2nd Doctor era, for the most part too slow & boring. Any good?

Never seen it. Not a fan of the 1st & 2nd Doctor era, for the most part too slow & boring. Any good? I think so but then I like the First and Second Doctors' eras. This is a very unusual story. 'Doctor Who' meets 'Bond' meets futuristic apocalypse movie. And no monsters either (well, maybe one but he's human...) And one of the best actors ever to appear in 'Doctor Who' playing the supervillain. For me, a definite double-dip purchase. (I'm up to four on 'Spearhead from Space' so two is hardly worth mentioning! )

For me, a definite double-dip purchase. (I'm up to four on 'Spearhead from Space' so two is hardly worth mentioning! ) It'll be a triple dip for those of us who already bought it on iTunes and then on DVD. If by four Spearheads you're including the VHS version then I have also quadruple dipped that one. I've also triple dipped quite a few - Aztecs, Robots, Talons, Five Docs, Androzani and Remembrance. Double dipped a couple of dozen more too. Add in Target novelisations, audiobook readings and audio soundtracks and there's barely a story I don't have in at least two versions, and in some cases, in 6 or 7 versions. It's no wonder my partner despairs at the amount of space my collection takes up. Like I always tell her though, "I've loved you for nearly two years now; I've loved Doctor Who for 35 years. Don't even try to compete." She usually thumps me at that point. Not sure why.

One has to wonder if Web of Fear special edition is far behind?

Do we know yet what makes this edition a "special" one?

One has to wonder if Web of Fear special edition is far behind? It's probably stuck at Goodge St. waiting for the next train. Could be a long wait...

Never seen it. Not a fan of the 1st & 2nd Doctor era, for the most part too slow & boring. Any good? I like Enemy quite a bit - it's mad enough and busy enough to keep your attention for six parts, but there are inevitable slow bits. The location footage in episode one springs to mind first, in the same way it slows down City of Death. If you hate all the Troughton stuff, you might not care for it, but it is among the best Second Doc stories IMO.

As long as the extras are good, I'll double dip. Also, I must admit, I'm just kind of glad to see a new(ish) classic series release in the old traditional format.

I see the farmers are out again trying to milk us into double dipping.

I see the farmers are out again trying to milk us into double dipping. But if the milk is full fat (commentary, 'making of' doc, gallery, etc.) I'll be glad to buy another bottle! (Or two - 'Web of Fear next, please.)

I imagine I'll get this at some point for the new special features but I won't be rushing to get it.

Extras:
Remastered episodes - even though all episodes were restored in 2013 for the previous DVD release, Peter Crocker from the Restoration Team is using advances in technology since then to go over each one with a fine tooth comb to ensure they are now presented in the best possible quality for this special edition.
Treasures Lost And Found - With so much information now available about every Doctor Who serial, it's not easy to learn anything new, so Toby Hadoke embarks on an exciting treasure hunt to find out all he can about the production. Along the way he'll interview some of the cast and crew including Frazer Hines, Mary Peach and David Troughton - who made his first TV appearance in this serial as an extra.
Recovering The Past – The Search For The Enemy Of The World - a brand new interview with the episode hunter Philip Morris, we hear how he tracked down the last surviving film copy of the serial to a dusty room in the African desert.
Remembering Deborah Watling - family, friends and colleagues pay tribute to Debbie Watling who played Victoria Waterfield, companion to Patrick Troughton’s doctor.
Audio commentaries on all six episodes - contributors include Frazer Hines, Mary Peach, Gordon Faith, Milton Johns and Sylvia James. Moderator is Simon Harries.
Production subtitles on all six episodes - written by Martin Wiggins.

One has to wonder if Web of Fear special edition is far behind? I don't want to see that unless it's got an animated version of the missing episode, to be honest.

I'll pass on this and any future classic series releases that aren't classic series box sets. May as well wait until the Special Editions are included in the sets.
