It would be wonderful if they finally recovered the last lost episode of Web of Fear, but I'd be almost as satisfied with an animated episode three just to have the story 'complete' on the shelf. Either/or would be plenty reason for me to double dip. Here's hoping. Agreed, and I wouldn't say any more animations are out of the question. Not sure on the actual figures, but from pure heresay both Power of the Daleks and Shada went down pretty well. I like to dream that we'll get one animation per year, but I've not got my hopes up too high. In the mean time, there is a pretty decent animation for episode 3 on YouTube that I came across on my marathon a few months back. The animation is on-par with the official releases.

Anyone else notice the release date was pushed back about two weeks? I don’t mind as I’ve already got the story and the preorder is just to see what mastery the team have done on the prints and the commentary and bonus features. I’d still like to know why?

Depending on how they did it, they might end up using them for Web. Paul Johnson ended up leading the animation teams for The Reign of Terror, The Tenth Planet and The Moonbase after his Doctor Who anime video (which will always remain cool). Stuart Humphryes's colourisations have likewise cropped up in The Mind of Evil and Planet of the Daleks based on his Babelcolour online work. Complete pipe dream, but I've always wanted an animated version of Marco Polo or The Daleks' Master Plan.

A lot of releases like this are done fairly close to the wire and given the quality of previous DVD releases, I'm not too worried

Last sentence in this month's DWM article says the next DVD release will be announced in DWM 523. Web of Fear the most likely, methinks no new DVD announcement (unless you count the 4th Doctor on Blu ray, or Reeltime's Anomaly)

The BBC might want to let the rebranding news settle in first before announcing anything else.

The one thing that I really like, in terms of VAM, is a 'Making of' documentary. For instance, I think one of the main benefits of getting the missing episodes released on DVD (as animations or recons), is getting those features and commentary. So, having that for Enemy would be lovely.
But I'm a bit hesitant. As far as I can recall, we have not really had any impressive documentary type VAM in the post Dan Hall era. Power had a feature which was better than nothing, but it (afaik) consisted entirely of archive (even for surviving cast/crew) clips strung together without much of an overall format. This is in contrast to a lovely Chris Chapman documentary with fancy graphics, and narration that walks through the commission/conception through production. But Power and Shada were sold on their nice new animations and other features were lower in priority than they should be for Enemy.
I don't think we've had production subtitles in post-Hall releases, either. The booklets of production notes are nifty, but not the same.
Still, I'm potentially quite interested, and looking forward to hearing what is to be included. Given that this release is really banking on the VAM more than upgraded picture quality, unlike previous SEs, I'm hoping it's better than what was made for Power and Shada.

Arrived this morning! First things first: reversed the cover to replace the 'new look' with the familiar classic style. (Or replace the 'imposter' with the real thing, if you like... ) Now we're ready to go.

It's gone straight to digital here. I guess Shada and Power of the Daleks did better on those formats.

More likely a full stop, unfortunately. I'm not so convinced. There's something pretty suspicious about Marco Polo not being announced alongside Enemy of the World and Web of Fear when it was always part of the rumour. Given that they got Enemy and Web right, I reckon the people in question thought they were being accurate when they mentioned Marco - but it could have been a miscommunication in the recovery process - maybe Philip Morris thought he was onto Marco as well but it didn't pan out? I'm sure he hits dead ends all the time. Or it's simply a case of broken telephone - after all, similar rumours at the time mentioned everything being found, or some combination of Enemy, Web, Fury, Power, Evil, Tenth Planet 4... I wouldn't be surprised if right information blended in with wrong ones. The one thing we know is that Web 3 did exist with the others, but was lost again before the reels were returned to the BBC - that one's confirmed from Morris himself.
