This a thread to share interesting trivia you learned and where you learned it. I had always heard that JFK had destroyed the hat industry by not wearing a hat at his inauguration. It's something I had heard many times from many sources and never thought to check, but I learned from the Omnibus podcast (and confirmed on Snopes) that this was not true. He wore a top hat.

This thread deserves more posts. I don't have anything right now, but maybe someone else does.

Not today but the day before yesterday. Had been wondering for months why my WhatsApp did not work anymore since I moved back to Germany from Austria. Turns out your WhatsApp is linked to the card you are using in your phone. Needed someone from my Fanclub to point this out to me. I really am a technical illiterate.

I already posted this on another thread but here goes:
A couple of weeks ago (after a swift double-take in the supermarket) I learned that jars of Judion are a type of Italian beans and thankfully not bottled space rhino...

I came across this while listening to a podcast. We all knew that they had to perform localizations for the various translations of the Harry Potter books. {Spoiler}As I recall, that's how readers identified Regulus Black as the author of the note, because the name worked with the initials in every translation. In French, the Tom Marvolo Riddle = I Am Lord Voldemort anagram doesn't work, so the anagram becomes "Je suis Voldemort" and Riddle's full name becomes Tom Elvis Jedusor which forms an anagram for "Je suis Voldemort". I think that's *adorable*! The Dark Lord's middle name is Elvis.

I think that's *adorable*! The Dark Lord's middle name is Elvis. Naturally. His adoring followers always knew he wasn't really dead, even though all the sightings of him were written off as imaginary...

Got a special Edition Torchwood Comic at the Con and found out that many Torchwood comics were written by John and Carole Barrowman... so John has a sister who is a Professor for creative writing and they write tie- in fiction together. How cool is that? No idea how I stayed this ignorant for so long. Luckily I bought this comic on a whim....

They wrote a torchwood book together as well as a series of young adult novels....... but i I suspect it’s a little bit of nepotism, with john having less of a contribution than Carole ......... But good luck to em is say........

Hello again.
My daughter is a major gaming fan and really enjoyed Bioshock and its sequel.
Today she watched 101 things about Bioshock 2 and I discovered that Fenella Woolgar Dr Who's Agatha Christie, in 2010 voiced the character of Dr. Sofia Lamb, the main antagonist in the video game. I remember watching her play bits of it and she is really creepy.

Friend of mine apparently knows the art director for The Nightmare Before Christmas. Hello again. My daughter is a major gaming fan and really enjoyed Bioshock and its sequel. I remember watching her play bits of it and she is really creepy. I had exactly the same experience when I was watching Agent Carter. I always thought that Asha made one hell of an impression in Blood of the Daleks and now I know why -- it's Hayley Atwell.

Hello again.
Today my oven door fell off. I learned that far from being screwed into the hinge it was glued on by a single adhesive strip! It's quite a heavy door so not surprising it fell off.
Needless to say AEG have just received a polite but 'I'm not happy' email...
Unfortunately, the microwave has packed up too, thank goodness the top oven is better designed.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Good luck: dealing with companies like this can be stressful. I hope you get some closure. ... I’ll get my coat.

Over the past week, with all the commemorations of the Stonewall Uprising, I learned that the Stonewall Inn was owned by the Mafia. I was rather surprised by that, I admit.
Although less surprised when I learned that originally, it was a speakeasy, in the days of Prohibition of the alcoholic beverages in the US.

'That there is genuinely a place (or 14) called Stockbridge! Yes we have one in western Massachussetts, it is where the Norman Rockwell Museum is. Also mentioned by James Taylor in one of his songs.
