I think it's pretty much accepted the fallout between Feige, Iger and Weddon (Jed) is legit. It's not all roses working with Marvel if you're an Edgar Wright, Ava Duvernay or Jon Favreau who all jumped ship because of a variation of not being able to make "their" films. I think the TV MCU being independent of the films was always going to happen with Feige and his team not being able to be hands-on. Then when the show's ratings and reviews dropped it probably made even more sense to distance themselves. I thought in Ultron when Fury called in his special crew that were still SHIELD loyal and not one of them was from the show it signalled that the show and the films were pretty much completely separate - it was THE moment to use them organically. You wouldn't even need to introduce them, just have the hellicarrier crew have Fitz, Simmons, Mack and co. But no. Then of course there's the Netflix shows which don't cross over with SHIELD either - the show really seems to be the red-headed stepchild of the MCU. At least Coulson is getting back into the movies with Captain Marvel.

Well, that was something wasn't it? A couple of quick takeaways, I think the key to the next film lies with Doctor Strange. Remember where he says he looked at all the millions of possible outcomes for how the battles ended? And how when he was asked how many times the good guys won and he said one. And then cut to his battle with Thanos and how he says what happens is the only way? I think he was making sure that the circumstances would come to pass. Also bearing in mind what has been widely reported about the upcoming Captain Marvel and its time period and that Strange carried the Time Stone plus the post credit sequence and who Fury was reaching out to. I think we can maybe see some of what will happen next year. Also, it certainly appears that Avengers 4 will feature the core aka founding members as its main players. Anyway, I saw it in the IMAX format as it was almost overwhelming. Of all the team-ups, I do think I enjoyed the Thor/Rocket/Groot strand the most. That is a full length movie I'd love to see.

Yeah, the ones in best shape by the end (comparatively) are the 2012 Avengers cast - if it's true RDJ, Hemsworth and Evans are all ready to move on, or at least take back seats, then giving them one last hurrah makes absolute sense in a more streamlined Avengers 4. Plenty of room for the newer cast going forwards but I imagine Acts 1 and 2 will be the "classic" Avengers mostly.

Then of course there's the Netflix shows which don't cross over with SHIELD either - the show really seems to be the red-headed stepchild of the MCU. At least Coulson is getting back into the movies with Captain Marvel. Yeah, the Helicarrier scene in AoU was the perfect excuse to at least show them, like you say, they need no explanation, you just assume that they're on the Helicarrier = SHIELD. It's a shame that SHIELD is essentially the red-headed stepchild of the MCU, given that it's gotten better (IMO, anyway...) and hit its stride in the past couple of seasons. I read recently that Jeph Loeb promised to get Clark Gregg in Iron Fist (Gregg's a huge IF fan, apparently - of the comics, at least) so that's apparently going to happen at some point. But, hey, at least with Inhumans, no one can claim that SHIELD is the worst MCU show anymore. Also, I can see another reason for not crossing over the shows with the movies (on the movies side of things, at least) - they're shot so far in advance that it's probably difficult to match up what'll happen on the shows with the films. But, yeah, it'll be good to see Coulson in Captain Marvel (though, is it too much to ask for a May cameo, too? ) Either way, I fear I am derailing this thread by talking about MCU movies vs. the shows...

Loved it! Best film of 2018 so far, and when it comes to Marvel films, Avengers: Infinity War is as good as it gets. Wow! is the most apt expression for me at this moment in time.

Please use spoiler tags for spoilers until the film has been released worldwide. {Spoiler}Speaking of Avengers 4, could we be seeing Nova? Fury's last action was to send a message to someone represented by the symbol for the Nova Corps.
You misidentified the symbol. {Spoiler} It was the symbol for Captain Marvel.

I'm not a singular voice but definitely in a minority, that was seriously boring. Dull, dull, dull. Is this ever going to end? was my thought about 3/4 way through it. Some nice bits with Thor, the third person in the soul stone scene was good for me. All the flaws I saw in Civil War multiplied. The attempt to give Thanos pathos was laughable. At the end I stayed for the post credit scene ONLY because I had paid for a ticket and not because I was really interested in the content. I'm currently agreeing with Alan Moore that some stories belong in a particular medium and don't work out of it, this might be a fair example of that for me, though despite my earlier comment about it never ending, if it had been expanded to a ten episode Netflix show (with that budget) it might have been something special. I'll probably watch Black Panther again, that worked as a movie.
