To the man who brought us Ian Chesterton and Sir Lancelot of the Lake. Indeed. Whilst we still also have Carole Ann Ford & Waris Hussein with us from the programmes genesis, it is underappreciated how much William Russell was more of a co-star to William Hartnell in those first two seasons (and in 77 episodes). As a leading man in his own right, he was very much the 'action man' and the 'hero' to the mysterious and often (in those first few serials) anti-hero of the much older, titular Doctor 'Who?' character, who was as likely to be the cause of their misadventures. Remarkable that he is still with us and active as Ian Chesterton into the present day.

And both were from Davisonโs era ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
But as moments go Ingrid Pittโs is the winner by far

Also on this day, the brilliant and tragic Face the Raven!
I canโt watch this one without crying! Why canโt 12 and Clara just have a happy ending?!

"If you could touch the alien sand and hear the cries of strange birds, and watch them wheel in another sky, would that satisfy you?"
57 years later, I'm still excited for more. Happy anniversary to Doctor Who, in all its forms.
