I listened to this today. I found the story intriguing but a little hard to follow, in part because the plot kept getting more complicated in each new part of the story. I couldn't figure out at first if each part was an individual story or if the stories were building on each other as turned out to be the case. It was hard to keep track of the characters, especially when people turned out to be not who we originally thought they were. And also, probably, cause actors played multiple roles, as has been pointed out upthread.
I'd probably understand it better if I listened again, but I have to admit that this type of story is not really my thing, so chances are I won't re-listen any time soon.
It was interesting to hear the background of how these stories started and I suspect that they probably work better on the stage, as someone else mentioned.
