What hasn’t made my day?
A bomb threat was called into my nephew’s school today. Apparently it has links to the anti-lgbtq protests that happened last week.
Absolutely infuriating, nothing gives anyone the right to threaten kids like that. They aren’t pawns in their imagined culture war. I hope the police find this sick individual and put them away for a very long time.

Because "Australia". We are 24 days into the season of Spring. A couple hours ago we saw a big fat juicy ripe red back spider (Aussie version of The Black Widow, their bites Will and Can kill you) by our front screen door. We have trained our boy at a very early age, if he see's Any type of spider to call out for us.. We disposed of this one immediately - not worth the risk. Our red back spiders catch snakes : www.youtube.com/shorts/qJDIDu2dy0cWhich is why I'll never visit Australia 😂

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I just recovered from heatstroke after the weird September heatwave so definitely need a gofundme 😂 Me & hot weather don't mix well.

Only way you'll get me to visit Australia is if you can guarantee me Margo Robbie will seduce me dressed as Harley Quinn 😂 How you suffer 47C heat, killer spiders & snakes is beyond me 😂

The Hollywood screenwriters have won the strike. Better pay, protections for staff and no AI scripts in movies anytime soon.

Yesterday I was on a very cool concert- Wind Rose (Dwarf Metal) was playing. All in all it was worth it. Great atmosphere, the whole audience was in high spirits and everyone sang, shouted, jumped and clapped along. The show was great and the band is very enthusiastic, and they really get into the spirit of being ancient dwarf warriors. And when they started playing "Diggy diggy hole" at the end it was total and utter pandemonium. There was even a place for some seriousness- the lead singer shared with us his story about his battle with depression and the song he wrote about it "I am the Mountain".
The support band was the new German "All for Metal". I am not very impressed with them- their songs are just so not original, and the whole vibe is just so copy paste. They are what I imagine a AI would spit out if you tasked it to create a Power Metal band. They were however VERY enthusiastic and very likeable. They put on a good show. They also practically begged us to support them and buy their merchandise, and even had a signing and personal meet and greet (free of charge, just outside). But as nice as they seem to be, I just could not justify buying merch of something I am just not that fond of.

Backstage, a LEGENDARY German guitarist was there to say hello and chat with them.. Mr Kai Hansen..

It's been an exhausting and stressful couple of weeks, and it's not over. So I went back to work last week after Yom Kippur and the woman we had hired to run our front desk quit due to health reasons. That's when I found out that she was having more difficulty with the job than she let one. The schedule, payment tracking, patient tracking, etc was all a mess. So I spent 3 days having to clean up what she had done (or not done) all the while seeing patients and running my clinic short staffed. And I'm in a class this weekend from 12-8 yesterday, 8-6 today and 8-3 tomorrow and then back to work 8-8 on Monday. On top of that, my son had Covid last week. So I'll be in sore need of a break next weekend!

just back from a birdwatching trip in Norfolk with one of my old school friends I had some nice close views of a curlew and a redshank and a group of stonechats perched in a place where we could clearly see them and we managed to see a couple of rare American visitors - a Wilson's Phalarope and a long-billed Dowitcher

Sounds great. Also great to meet a fellow bird person on here.

Made my Day: This year I’ve been working hard on my health, which a part of has been going from 250lbs to around 180 currently, which has been hard work, but worth it. Today I went clothes shopping for the first time in a while, and not only was it weird buying clothes that are smaller, I actually liked doing so, which is amazing since it’s always been on my most hated things to do.

Very long work day. After normal work, had to give a 3 h online seminar on bird parasites to the vet technicians out there. It went really well and I impressed the audience with all my awesome pictures and stories about my exciting adventurous expeditions researching wild birds in NZ. So I think this went well. Finally was home at 9 pm. 12.5 h work day. Treated myself to a hot shower, a nice hot water bottle, listening to an awesome new music album ( Dark Euphony by Blackbriar which is beautiful) and reading in my newly discovered exciting underwater thriller book series. Day made.

This day has not started out very well. I am worried sick for my niece and cousins who live in Israel. And then I found out that a friend from high school passed away last night from a brain anuerysm. On top of one of my best friends finding out that an old friend of his is on hospice.
The grey, rainy day just seems appropriate.
