"Sykes" is Eric Sykes TV Show
I belive this is actually an episode of the earlier "Sykes and a....", of which "Sykes" (recently, if not currently, on That's TV) was a sequel/remake

Very happy that the BBC's traditional Ghost Story At Christmas continues this year; we have Mark Gatiss's adaption of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Lot No. 249 featuring ...
Brilliant! I do so enjoy that we now have resurrected the tradition of A Ghost Story for Christmas. And what a good choice for a story. Hope to see future instalments branch out into other writers as well. I’d love to see an adaptation of one of E.F. Benson’s or Majorie Bowmen’s works as an example.

I have an ex childhood neighbour of mine - flat earther, believes Trump is President (we don't live in USA yet he is Obsessed with US Politics), covid/vax denier, moon is fake etc.. I thought he was joking around when he was posting all this consfearacy garbage 24/7 online. He is serious. He has 6 children and 2 grandchildren, just 3 years older than me.. I hope they don't grow up like him - these people cannot be reasoned with.

One of these days today. Since last Saturday, 10 days now, I have been stuck at home with the COVID experience (TM). Last week I was pretty sick, but I have been feeling better and better. I am however not allowed back at work since my superior does not want anyone else to spread the plague around. We have a minor outbreak at work (my guess is all the returnees from Octoberfest who brought it back). I had not been anywhere else, so I must have picked the virus up from work. Anyways. We had a little hickup at work today- I handed in another PCR test this morning (I had one done on Friday and it was positive). I wanted the result so I knew when I could return to work. Sitting at home twiddling my thumbs is not good for my mental health- and yes, I see the irony, since I am not the happiest at work, either. Anyways, for reasons I cannot explain and did not get explained to me (we only had short Whatsapp communication)- my test that I handed in this morning good waylaid. Sigh. So the whole process is delayed until tomorrow- luckily they found it. No, I have no idea how the packaged test could get lost in a mailbox. Where I threw it in MYSELF. Whatever. I am pretty annoyed. So my order is to also stay at home tomorrow. Until we know the result in the afternoon.
These are probably first world problems? No idea, it annoys me anyways.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Interest in conspiracy theories is just a midlife crisis for guys who can’t afford a sports car. He’s not troubled: he’s just a guy discovering that he’s irrelevant.

This is NOT just a midlife crisis. Being into this stuff, being transphobic, antisemitic, anti Vax, claiming the BBC murdered his father etc. To call it just a midlife is naive & shows a lack of understanding about how dangerous some of these right wing conspiracy people can be.

I’m sorry but it may be a symptom of some sort of mental illness but there’s a lot of folks out there who are using this as a way of coping with their decreased relevance in the modern world. Delusions and mental illness - ‘troubles’ - are not this consistent across so many examples of them. Yes, they’re dangerous and not based in reality, but they are largely voluntarily entered into by the individual and that individual is frequently a male suffering from a decrease in what they perceive as their value to society. The fact that these conspiracy theories so often target the marginalised members of society, blaming them for all the problems of the world, suggests that these are guys - usually guys - who think they have missed out on something that someone else has gotten at their expense. I want to give them some kind of sympathy but they are frequently greedy and bigoted and unwilling to even attempt to give another point of view the same kind of attention that they demand for their own.

So, not "just a midlife crisis". Thanx No: because a midlife crisis is often spawned by someone realising that what they do doesn’t have the same meaning and fulfilment that it used to have. It can be caused by lots of different things but it boils down to someone thinking that something is missing from their life, whether it’s caused by them or not. Thanx

Had an okay enough time at the German Who convention. Did Beat sitting alone at home, even if I had to distance myself. At least I had fun with the actors. For news and rumors, see the Timelash thread (where I will also post pictures when I am back home) and the rumors thread.

To be completely honest, I've been quite stressed about bills over the last couple of weeks due to not working for a couple of reasons that on their own would have been fine, but together have caused a lot more problems. But in that vein as well, if anyone in North America wants a good deal on Dalek Universe or 9DA vinyls, feel free to PM me as they just sit around my place gathering dust.
