Nearly 10:30pm and heading off to bed- spent a good solid 5 hours today cleaning up the front and backyard and parts of inside the house - I am rekt. While it's always sad to see people go, as Tegans dad would say. "If it stops being fun, give it up". I've left the forum twice since I joined in October 2015, and I don't regret either departure, or either return. Nothing about this forum has actually changed, it's always had a tendency to get a little fractuous in places. If I go far enough back I see the same sorts of disagreements occurring regularly, with a special blowout every two or three years. Maybe one day the people taking a break from the forum now will come back. Maybe one day even Stevo will create a new username and return. Whether they do or not, he will stay immortalised as @stevo in the 1000 list and the forum itself will remember him and the others, even when none of the users here remember who that was, or who any of us were. |

2023 has been probably the worst of the 2020s for me so far and possibly the worst year of my life in many regards. Yet, strangely enough, I'm entering 2024 in a better frame of mind than I've been in years - which is also crazy considering the stakes of my country's 2024 election. But this past month I've finally seen a break in my depression that has allowed me to start actually taking care of myself for myself.
I’ve already started losing some weight as I've started eating healthier and exercising more regularly too. I’ve started sleeping better more regularly, which has made a big difference in how alert I feel during the day. Oh, and I also found some new communities both in real life and online to be involved in, which has helped immensely so far and given me a lot of resources to move forward.
2024 could be scary and awful, but I'm willing to be hopeful for once. Happy New Year everyone!

A girl who used to live around the corner from me is going to be queen of Denmark.
(I wouldn’t have known her from a bar of soap back in the day but I did spot her parents house in a magazine and realised that it was around the corner from my parents place.)
