300 books! I only read the first 20. But they were fun though it does seem a long time ago now (because it is!)
I know the rest of the world cannot begin to compete with Germany when it comes to 'Three Investigators' fandom, but your collection must be impressive even by German fan standards! If you go to youtube and search "The Three Investigators" you get a few AI audio's of the 1st few books..
You mean the parrot stutters and the mummy whispers... because of an AI voice?? Well, I never thought of that solution back in the 70s.

So far I'm liking the new shift at work, but everything broke today.
First my new headphones that I had just bought two days ago, then the computer at work, then the Internet at work, then the camera at work, then the lights messed up which messed up the camera again, and to top it all off, I just realized that the heels of my expensive z-coil shoes are ripped to shreds. (Fortunately I have a pair of backups)

So my direct Manager came back to work today, 3 weeks off, he was in Hong Kong yesterday (jetlag hadn't kicked in). My Yearly Performance Development Review was supposed to have been done 3 weeks ago, it's due Tomorrow. He fully apologised, we went through it all- I honestly blocked out a chunk of what I wrote as I politely/professionallyy/not subtly threw shade at my Executive Manager who "can't read the room/think on a basic human common sense level" etc - the feedback I got back is that my direct Manager and the Exec Manager 100% agree with what I wrote.. (I feel like I should buy a X-Lotto ticket as I am feeling very lucky today!) I signed the Review document, with a breakdown of my new wage, with the 1.5% increase in my Superannuation and my yearly bonus in the very low thousands, backdated pay increase from 31st July 2024 to 19th September 2024. Then I saw what my earnings will be for the year.. I actually checked the Aust Gov Tax site because I thought I just went over : What is the income tax structure in Australia? Australian income tax rates for 2024–25 onwards (residents) Income thresholds Rate $18,201 – $45,000 16% $45,001 – $135,000 30% $135,001 – $190,000 37% $190,001 and over 45% PHEW.. Didn't hit the 3rd tier .

Last time scuba diving for the season at the pool today. Since we finally have summer over here, and today was a hot summer day, the pool was packed with people. We had a huge audience of kids watching us putting our kit together and I had fun explaining to a group of Eritrean kids how the scuba gear worked and let them try everything out. Then we went under water for 30min, practicing some standard things. The walls of the 5m deep pool are only semi-cleaned, they are pretty much green with algae, so each of us club members left a silly message in the green at the very bottom. Just some pure silly fun. I enjoyed myself.
Work... well the usual.
Not worth complaining about all the BS that probably won't change any time soon.
But very sad day, since one of the people I got on very well with left us. (some very bad things happened, very close to actual harassment, and she decided to quit- after which the harassers called her a "Traitor"). Anyways.
There was a HUGE turn out to say good-bye, so no, not everyone at my company is an evil female dog.
There was also pizza. Lots of tears. The whole affair was pretty sad.
I hope she does much better at her new place.

Well it looks like I'm sticking with the new shift/position for the foreseeable future.
Given how my boss practical begged me to stay, I probably should have asked for raised too. But I'm just happy to be out of customer service. Besides I expect a raise at the end of the year anyway.

Just received a birthday card and a nice box of fancy chocolates from the Big Boss- it's a thing he does to keep in touch with "the commoners"- everyone's birthday he comes down to have a quick chat with them.
This is my 6th birthday present so far, I get my 7 years the 1st week of October (So for Pro Rata I accrue another 7-9 weeks of annual leave).
Everything is coming up Millhouse !
LOLZ

Oh no. State elections in some Eastern German states. To no-ones surprise, the far right party is strongest force. This is the party where the leader is openly using SA paroles in public and which has been shunned by the other European right-wing parties for being too extreme. Well, at least it won't get boring over here any time soon.

If that wasn't enough you seem to have a new (cough) populist left party I've never heard of in third place and both of them want to stop helping Ukraine, on top of everything else. Right now that position tells me all I need to know about any party/politician.
But with the CDU doing well too, and given who won't work with who, might you get the CDU with some of the moderate left in rainbow coalitions? Would that even work? I know Germany is much better at coalitions than we usually are. Especially in a good cause.

Well, look at the state of Germany now to answer your question on how well our rainbow coalitions have been doing. The previous one was not popular, but the current one.... they are constantly infighting, nothing gets done, it is just toddlers throwing sand at each other (the only thing they seem to have managed to get out and done that was met with moderate approval was the legalization of weed, none of the REAL issues, which is all you need to know).
Hence the mess in the elections.
And I do not see any improvements any time soon.
I will cite one of our great poets who said at the end of the 19th century "Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht, bin ich um den Schlaf gebracht" (if I think about Germany at night, I will have nightmares; that was actually very prophetic of him)

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend.
I had dinner with my family, went shopping with my best friend, and I got new silk furniture covers for my sofa and recliner.
I've been wanting new ones forever and it's so nice to finally relax without my furniture itching me.

I’m very pleased to read the soft confirmation of more novel adaptations to come in the future.
They have always been some of my favourite stories and there are lots I’d love to see adapted!

That would be very good. I was 'away' from Who during the off-air years apart from collecting a few VHS releases, so the novel adaptations are all-new stories for me and I enjoy them.

Later today the Earth will be hit by a small asteroid. (Really.) About 17.40 British Summer Time.
The good news is, 'small' in this case means about 1m and our atmosphere will take care of it, but the fireball will be spectacular and meterorites are very likely. Somewhere near the Philippines, is the predicted entry point, where it will be around midnight so with clear skies expect videos! Too far north for our members in Oz to see anything probably, as I think you are all in the south of the country?
But still, impressive that these days even such small objects are found before they impact and can be tracked and predicted. And a reminder that the cosmos doesn't know or care less about our earthly concerns!
EDIT: The rock is codenamed CAQTDL2 and was discovered by an automated sky survey at Mt. Lemmon in Arizona.
