Yeah, get both if you can! It’s tempting, it reality is.... what to do? I'd advise you to get both arcs if you can, too. But I'm not sure if that'd be wise? If you've finished the Eight and Charley arc already, get this one. It's one of my favorites I think, and you would be prepared for the Six/Charley/DI Menzies (my favorite non-companion character of the Sixth Doctor's audios) episode that's coming in July in The Legacy of Time.

Hmm - seven releases here that I do not have. Buying the lot will entitle me to the £50 10% discount. Trouble is, one of those releases is called 'The Dark Husband'. Can anyone say anything good about it by way of persuasion? It's The Room of Big Finish. It's in the so bad it's good territory. I Wouldn't go quite that far
I suppose the intention of The Dark Husband was to be comic, but I think it proves that humour can be subjective.

I think that Castle of Fear - Legend of the Cybermen might be the best run of stories the Main Range has ever had.
I've missed out on a lot of the Hex stories, so I think I'll pick them up

So I did a comparison..
1 of the stories I need (in Australian currency) is $27.25. With the weekend discount it's $10.91 With the 2 postage and handling charges it's $25.45
Checked online at another overseas place- basically $20 all up.
ouch. hhhmmm

I'll get my coat....

I personally spoke to John Leeson about it
I am just slighlty annoyed we are paying 2 different consecutive types of postage and handling.. But that's a topic for another day.

I think there would be a lot more reserve stock on the K9 series if it wasn't so easy to get hold of... As with US buyers, for the Big Finish range it seems the postage carriers charge more than the retail value of the physical product. It helps Amazon monopolise things even further. Publishers and retailers of books in particular have been hit hard, if they have survived. Anyhow, with the edit: eight titles i need (for less than £50!!) on CD, that leaves just 9 from MR 150-200 to complete the first 200. I only have 6 from 201 onward though. Roll on a MR 200 - 250 sale...

I'm having trouble deciding between the 7/Hex arc and the Six/Charley arc. Any thoughts? I'm getting both, y'all.

Hi
So im working my way through the hex audios and ive got most of them up to Forty-five. However, looking in my account i have already bought the word lord seperatly (which apparently is 99p but i swear i picked it up for free so it must have been in offer or somthing) anyway, as theres a lot of releases i want to get in this sale and only have a certain amount of money to spend, will i get by only listening to the word lord and then listening to the magic mousetrap and onwards or are all four storys of the anthology necessary for the whole hex arc thing?

Word Lord essentially explains the linking theme of 45 so you can skip the other stories, but one story guest stars Benedict Cumberbatch and another gives Hex a hint that the Doctor knows something about his Mother

I think stories with 'arcs' in them can be enjoyed on their own merits, if Classic Who is anything to go by. The Monoids evolved over time to take supremacy over the humans, but it was still a self contained story. Space Station Nerva Beacon provided a very loose three story 'arc'. In space. And Omega returns after a ten year hiatus, but we are led to believe that this was an arc that went on literally forever....

Yeah, speaking of book stores- Australia has been hit hard. 3 of the biggest have basically shut up shop . The 1 book shop that is open within a 1 hour drive in every direction, I compared a book to a certain online store that isn't Amazon and there was $14 difference.. So I just have to wait 10 days for it to arrive.. that's pretty big.. Anyway getting off topic !

Trouble is, one of those releases is called 'The Dark Husband'. Can anyone say anything good about it by way of persuasion? I heard it last summer as part of our Hex listen-through, here are my three top reasons to get it:
1. Weeding the garden while listening to it was probably better than weeding the garden while not listening to it. 2. If you'd rather never go to a festival in your whole life, this will confirm how right you are. 3. I didn't pass the CDs on to a charity shop or use them as coasters, or bird-scarers on the veg patch. (So not a zero-stars review then.)
Really, it's not a bad story and some of the funny bits are actually funny. The worst I can say is that I thought it could have been somewhat shorter and still told the same story, but that's hardly unique.

Well i bought the following: 148 - Rat Trap 141 - Lurkers at Sunlight's Edge 139 - Project: Destiny 138 - The Cradle of the Snake 136 - Cobwebs 128 - The Eternal Summer 127 - Castle of Fear 106 - The Dark Husband Not bad for £47 - checking my BF purchase history, the last time I spent as much was May 2016 with an Eighth Doctor sale. I agree that the MR range does not really allow for 'duff' submissions to pass through the editorial. Just variety, really, and the the opportunity to push outwards rather than looking inwards with casual typicality. You just need to approach with an open mind and go with the flow, looking for merits as opposed to deducting points. It don't think that there is a 'that will do for this month' mentality at BF, but a case of pushing outwards to see what works and what not so. Tangent: Currently listening to 'Night of the Triffids' on a first listen - bought it January 2016 but just getting round to it now, such is the wealth of my backlog. I can recommend it to anyone familiar with the John Wyndhams original and its on screen adaptations. A fascinating sequel and a fully dramatised production so far (except that Nicola Bryant sounds exactly like Peri, playing a New Yorker).

Cobwebs , The Cradle Of The Snake and Rat Trap were some of the 1st 5th stories I heard. I have listened to them all in non sequential order OOPS

I have used this to fill in some gaps in my 101-150 collection. Ended up spending £80 in the end, but got what I needed. I am guessing that there is no super-subscription again (I'd been saving for that) and I took the opportunity to get some of the ones I've been wanting, but not willing to fork out full price for. Mostly 5th Doctor stories this time, which I've heard mixed things about but wanted to see for myself.
This period is generally quite an interesting one and has some cracking releases: the First Klein Trilogy is superb (some of the best McCoy ever I think and they really made me re-evaluate his Doctor), the Hex arc goes quite dark (The Magic Mousetrap trilogy is also another highlight, particularly Enemy of the Daleks) and the Sixie/Jamie adventures are very good. There's also some really interesting 'oddball' ones in here - I love Brotherhood of the Daleks (Daleks singing The International is just so surreal it is great), the Raincloud Man is an amazing concept (please revisit BF) and there's the wonderful DI Menzies!!
Still not got The Dark Husband or The Boy that Time Forgot - maybe one day!
BF now need a 151-200 sale - I'll almost have a full set of stories then!!
