I remember I was at a wedding when I saw this announcement at BF Day. It feels so long ago now! Very excited though. What better fitting ending to Counter-Measures than what it started with. (Though I won't say no to more appearances in other ranges!).

I'm not sure if the lack of reviews is a good or a bad thing, but for certain is one of the most quietly received release(s) ever!

I enjoyed it and I think it was the best use of the Movellans I have seen, ever. It's always good to have Lady Claire back, Carolyn Seymour is terrific. However I have a problem with the end. I'm not sure that I buy it, that ending for Rachel. Tp just slink away? For someone who advocated for leadership of the team it just seems so irresponsible of her. And it didn't seem like she planned it, so how does she start over? I don't see her giving up the science, her friendships and the mysteries. Sorry, I just don't get it.

The Movellan Manoeuvre Well this was rather good. I was a bit dubious going in but those thoughts were unfounded, what a good caper it turned out to be. Love the advert for the robo housewife helper. 8 out of 10.

Well on my part, I'm going to try again from the first boxset and see if I enjoy the series this time around. I found the first boxset to be one of my least favourite things Big Finish have done, but that easily could have been due to my state of mind when listening to it, so I am trying again. I do however, have everything up to Who Killed... due to purchasing the bundle when I bought the first in a sale a few years back.

I do the the "New" adventures aren't as good as the original 4 boxsets. The stories are very uneven. But I really liked this one.

If I'm honest, I don't really know what to say about these releases. Both were perfectly serviceable stories but in terms of just story quality I think they would have been better off leaving the series with The Hollow King as I think that was stronger than both these episodes combined. I'm also just getting really sick of the "not everyone will make it out alive" stuff when, I think the last 3 or 4 times BF have tried pulling that stunt, NO ONE has actually died. And then the extras for The Dalek Gambit seemed to be teasing some sort of continuation of the series and I was just left feeling really underwhelmed by these two stories for apparently not delivering on anything they were promised to. I liked them, but I wouldn't say they're essential listening for the range.
If I'm honest, the range went a bit downhill when it entered the 70s. It had a unique feel and type of storytelling in the original run that was somewhat scrapped when they reinvented it and the range hasn't been the same since.

I enjoyed them and they were good listening, but still not as good as the original boxsets. And like I said, I had a problem with the end. I didn't like it at all.

You have just summed up my views exactly. Overall good, but very badly let down by the cop-out ending.
First of, "not everyone will make it out alive" is basically misleading if not downright dishonest - so it is arguably being marketed under false pretences.
Secondly, the final twist in the tale ending was quite out of character for Rachel and doesn't really make a lot of sense for the reasons you say. It is very like Peri's fate in Trial of a Time Lord - a good dramatic ending that is undone when the producers suddenly get cold feet and instead they substitute in an implausible out-of-character life-changing decision made by the departing character to explain their non-return.
Generally speaking, I love everything BF do. It is very very unusual for them to make the wrong call creatively, but I think they did on this occasion. Up until the last scene I would have easily given this a 10/10 and they should have finished with the Kinsella/Gilmore/Alison scene, but instead the final scene brings it down to a 7 or 8/10.

Finally listened to the two adventures. I enjoyed them for the most part. It was good to hear the team again. As far as Rachel going off on her own, I guess it a way to end the series, but if they come up with another idea I'm sure she would be drawn back.

You know, I got excited for a moment when I saw the title of this thread pop-up. "Oooh, new Counter-Measures?!?! Oh. April 2020..."
Has it really been seven months since this came out?
