The good {Spoiler} I’ve always been A Lando Fan(do), nice to see him back and to offer sage words when needed. I like how Ridley played Dark Rey as calmer and more in control than regular Rey (up until the hiss). WEDGE! REG! The moment Lando returns and the music swells and the second most impressive bit of fan service (since “Calling the War Council on Gallifrey”) happened. I cheered and fiddlesticks you lady who shushed me. Palpetine was amazing. OMG that Han cameo. I know it was meant to be Carrie (look at the build up) but how much of a class act is Ford for stepping up and doing something he had every right to go “yeah, nah” to. I love Kylo Ben’s little “point to himself in incredulity” which is something Han often did. And Driver was excellent. I particularly liked how helmeted Ren was in control but helmetless Ren was a mess of emotions. I actually cried when 3P0 “died”. the bad {Spoiler} 3P0 should have stayed dead.
Wedge not in an X-Wing? Heresy.
Ashoka was a voice in Rey’s head? Ohh bugger, that means she’s dead.
Ben died as well? Pointless.
What happened to Rose?

Wait on of the Characters was Wedge's Son? Wedge appeared in the Aftermath novel trilogy, which charts the year between the Battle of Endor and the Battle of Jakku which ends the war. The lead character in that trilogy is Norra Wexley, who has a 15-year-old son named Temmin Wexley. Wedge appears in this trilogy and kinda-sorta has a bit of a thing for Norra, but it never materializes. In the meantime he meets her son and gives him a crash-course in fighter piloting. Fast forward 30 years to the ST era: Temmin (now better known by his nickname/pilot callsign "Snap") makes a bit-part appearance in The Force Awakens, and is a fairly significant supporting character in the novels and comics of the era. In the novel Resistance Reborn, set almost immediately after The Last Jedi, we learn that sometime in the intervening three decades, Wedge and Norra got married--making Snap Wedge's stepson. Snap was the pilot who got shot down/killed like 0.5 seconds before the arrival of the Resistance-allied fleet. Bloody Hell

Just been to see The Rise of the Skywalker, I am kind of a casual fan Star War (I first saw the original trilogy when I was 7 and only rewatched the first one once recently, I have seen most of the prequels, and The force Awakens and Last Jedi) but this particular Star Wars movie did remind me of two of my biggest fandoms Doctor Who (obviously 😉) and Harry Potter 😊 The plot with Rey and Palpatine was very reminiscent of Harry and Voldemort 🤔 Speaking of Palpatine was anyone else getting strong Davros vibes from him in this movie? The deep wheezing voice, way he was emanaciated and hooked up to all those tubes and needles, as well as that speech about the power of hate, felt very Davros like to me🤔 Overall I loved this movie! It was gorgeous, emotional and heartbreaking (and warming)! Overall

Overall, I really liked this movie. I wasn't all that taken with Adam Driver in The Force Awakens and thought the part was badly miscast, however he was really great in this one. His arc was fairly complex, and I thought he did a nice job with it. I LOVED the Harrison Ford cameo. It was so unexpected and lovely. Yes, I cried! It was certainly Star Wars, the good and the bad. My biggest problem with the film was that it was way too long and the pacing in the first half was terrible. They didn't need to do most of that planet hopping, and it really kept the story from moving forward. Emperor Palpatine was fantastic. Yes, his scenes at the end with Ben were somewhat derivative of Return Of The Jedi, but I didn't care. That's what the Emperor is for, turning Jedi to the Dark Side! I actually like Ben's redemption a lot more than Vader's. Maybe because I could never believe Vader's after decades of evil. Ben never seemed to be completely on the Dark Side. Once he was given permission to come home, to have made a mistake, he was able to resolve the conflict.
Yes, I would have liked it more if Rey had stayed just a poor kid with a strong connection to the Force and sense of right and wrong, but if they were going to make part of an ongoing SW family I'm happy with how they did it. And the end on Tatooine was a lovely way to bring things full circle. So yeah, it was far from perfect, but what SW movie is? I'm completely good with how they ended it.

Saw it a second time today. Did not even enjoy it this time around. This really does feel like two movies spliced into one and it’s very rushed and very sloppy as a result. It’s just frustrating for me overall, because a part of me wants to love this film but I just can’t.

Shocking absolute twaddle, basically a damage limitation movie, incoherent bafflegab, plot holes the size of Mount Everest, McGuffins shoehorned in as force powers which are just a lazy excuse in bad writing, poorly written character arcs, Poe become a unlikable prat, Finn arc could be cut from the trilogy for all he does & Rey & Kylo my God they share as much charisma as a out of date lettuce . I been a Star Wars fan for over 37 yrs, Star Wars has been my rock as i battled my breakdowns & relaspes, those 6 movies inspired me & seen my through some very dark times (yes i do enjoy the prequels despite there flaws) but Disney have butchered George Lucas legacy & put out a disjointed mess of a passionless trilogy that made the plot arc up as it went along. For me Star Wars is about the rise, fall & redemption of Anakin Skywalker, this trilogy to me feels like tacked on DLC. If you enjoyed it good, but for me I'll stick to Episodes 1-6 & Rogue One & forget this shambolic trilogy exists. Come on , give us a smile 😉🤓 you still went to see it once a fan always good or bad .

Cinematic Star Wars is not the story of the Skywalkers in general, nor the rise, fall and redemption of Annakin Skywalker nor the rise and fall of Darth Vader or evening the rise, fall and death of one Sheev Palpetine..... its the tale of one Blue Bladed Lightsaber and its impact upon the universe.
It’s the saber that avenges Qui-Gon. The Saber thst reveals treachery of Dooku, the Saber thst Murders Younglings. That defends Luke Skywalker and tumbles into the hands of Rey Noname, to slay Kylo Ren and restore Ben Solo and finally strike down Palpetine.

Once is more than enough this trilogy awful in my opinion utter piffle, bad acting, poorly written character arcs, this film had plot holes the size of a black hole & lazy writing with Reys godlike jedi power's, not once did i have goosebumps & the action scenes fell flat, lightsaber battles clunky with Rey swinging it like a baseball bat, when i watch The Mandalorian I'll smile i will even dance with joy that this is why i love Star Wars. I ain't angry as a toxic fan I'm angy because Star Wars means a lot to me & has been my rock duing some very dark times in my life, to see Disney & Kathleen Kennedy butcher George Lucas legacy is heartbreaking, the only new film i enjoyed to date was Rogue One. And if rumours true about Keanu Reeves playing Revan then i may actually start believing in God. Glad you found it entertaining though fo me this year been shocking for movies, thankfully The Boys, Swamp Thing, The Witcher, Lost In Space delivered top notch entertainment.

To be fair George Lucas sold his legacy to Disney for $4 billion & the prequels are average at best.

It was following Force Awakens that I started to back off on this franchise. I have a copy of Last Jedi somewhere but I've never watched it.
I was put off by changes in showrunners. The whole "Too Many Cooks" thing. Complain legitimately about elements of the Prequel Trilogy, Lucas was still steering that ship. After Disney takes over, one movie goes one way, the next another, and the final one has to backpedal, retcon and all that... It seems like they tried to hide this by moving RoS along so fast that one doesn't stop to think, and apparently, that worked, (if you actually believe the Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score),, but among "thinking" viewers, it seems that no one likes this movie, and since I fall into that category, I would rather not see it.

Thanks, what a way to insult half the people on this forum. I liked it. It wasn't perfect, but I liked it and will probably watch it again. I'm one of those folks that was HAPPY to see Lucas hand it over to others. I thought he was destroying his own creation with the prequels. Honestly, I can't remember another movie where there has been such a huge difference in people's reactions, from loving it to loathing it. I believe it's all about expectations, not whether the person watching is a "thinking" viewer or not.

I read something the other day that I quite liked. I don't remember the exact wording (and damned if I can find where I read it now), but it went something like:
Star Wars movies are like the cave on Dagobah. What you take into them is what you get out of them.
