Simultaneously making the Other canon and the EDAs non canon, chibnall you madman (being sarcastic of course, canon doesn't matter but as a VNA fan well I'll keep my eye on the rest of this series and I had a great time despite some teething issues in the episode) Counter-argument: The EDAs happened, the Eight Doctor just forgot. Non-counter-argument: You're right, canon doesn't matter.

Well, darn. And done. In fact, it's two that you got right. Yes! Though what I can't get right is multi-quoting or I'd have pulled the other quote up too! I'm not quite sure how I picked two out of two, there haven't been any leaks from what I've seen. Maybe I'm actually a fob-watched future Chibnall.

I was on FB 1 minute and had the episode spoiled by two Radio Times headlines. So some stuff happened? You could say that! Regards mark687

Twists and guesses aside though, that was actually a really fun episode of Who. Breathless without being ill-paced, full of danger and consequence without being too overtly violent (who didn't laugh when the old dear got blown up? ) and with performances all round that sold the action. Barrowman with the Just For Men out too - funny he kept calling Graham silver fox when he's been letting his own white hair come through for the last few months!

Proper review is as follows: {Spoiler} I just had a great time with that episode. I was very very unimpressed with the last episode and this one really was exciting and one twist after the other. I like to alternate with episodes I like starting with the negatives and episodes I dislike starting with the positives. So I'll start with the negatives. Most of the extras (Allan I'm looking at you) were very poorly acted, poorly written and that time lord at the end was really not impressive. The episode was a tad overpacked, the cyberman stuff could've waited as could the Captain Jack stuff. I've never been a fan of Captain Jack myself so I guess that's a negative but if you do like him, I expect you were over the moon! As always with Chibnall, there was a bit too much exposition and oh my goodness there was sooooo much technobabble! Now the good! The most fundamental change was that Yaz and her police officer past had something to do! Absolutely amazed that it took the writers this long, but ah well, hopefully they keep that up! The cinematography was really excellent and that episode was wonderful to look at. They brought contact back again and I love contact! The reveal itself really got me. I was really expecting Ruth to be the Rani! I'm a big fan of the VNAs so I'm hoping Chibnall doesn't just roll over that but this wider series arc has got me hooked. Jodie and the whole cast showed again that they are great acting as a TARDIS team in conflict and in more nuanced situations. I hope all of them get more of this because this is the sort of script they seem made for and I'm having a lot of fun with them like this! And the TARDIS exterior (less so the interior) was a nice nod back to Hartnell who is my favourite Doctor, so did I squeal with joy at that, yes, yes I damn well did! A strong 4/5 for me and I'm really looking forward to next week.

So, to anyone who questions if Chibbs does or doesn't listen to Big Finish... this is basically a 2003, Gary Russell-script-edited play from the earlier 8 series, working the skin of a modern TV episode. Like, I thought It Takes You Away was a naked throwback to the Wilderness years.
This is Wilderness Years nostalgia just letting it all hang out for the world to see. I have no idea, as of this specific writing, how to react. Good comparison Regards mark687

Crikey! Did feel a bit over stuffed with things, but very good things, so enjoyed that. Also felt the episode allowed itself room to breathe, with good pacing. Excellent writing and direction.

Thinking about it logically (yes, I know, fatal mistake) 1) pre-Hartnell - would cause characterisation problems vis-a-vis the first Doctor's immediate past and motivations. 2) Season 6b - fits with working for the Time Lords but not for the attitude towards the sonic screwdriver 3) between War and 9 - doesn't fit with working for the Time Lords or (probably) for the sonic None of those fit with 11 identifying Sandshoes as counting as two incarnations 4) Future - meh, a bit predicatable 5) Alternative timeline/universe - zzz 6) Metacrisis 10th Doctor - no, he can't regenerate 7) Stop speculating, just wait till it's explained on screen - no fun.
(Poor old Barrowman. Reading those Radio Times interviews he must've thought his appearance was going to be a big deal.)
Edit - Radio Times points out that the fact it's a Police Box that Ruth's got kinda prevents a pre-Hartnell option,

So, most importantly how do we refer to Ruth? The Timeless Doctor?
& how long will it be before the BF spin-off!

Robson, Cornell and Moran all gave him big praise, among others in the comments.

Maybe the other Doctor is this 'timeless child'.

I'm being a bit thick probably but how does this make them non Canon?
