The story would have to be between Power and Highlanders with Ben and Polly when the Doctor still has his early fixation on hats.

More famous writers in general, I think. Would love to see Big Finish take another stab at Agatha Christie, for example.
Or, off the top of my head, I'd love to see Maurice LeBlanc, Machiavelli, John Locke, William Faulkner, Ursula LeGuin, P.G. Wodehouse, etc., pop up in a Doctor Who story.
Actually, the only author I can think of that would be a BAD fit for Doctor Who would probably be Douglas Adams, for I think obvious reasons. It'd just be kinda awkward, yeah?
And now I'm imagining the 6th Doctor in a Jeeves and Wooster story.

That's right, in 'The Ravelli Conspiracy'. It was my personal 'BF of the year' release that year, I loved it.

And now I'm imagining the 6th Doctor in a Jeeves and Wooster story.
When Lord Emsworth suspects Sir Gregory Parsloe-Parsloe of wishing to steal the Empress of Blandings, he takes George Yaxley's advice and summons his nephew Bertie Wooster to Blandings, so that Lord Emsworth can take the advice of valet par excellence, Jeeves. Are there imposters once again imposting at Blandings? If so, it's a mystery that even Bertie can solve, since the only newcomers to the stately home are Lord Emsworth's personal physician, and the new pig-girl, Melanie.

H. Ashton-Wolfe, the 'true crime' writer who chronicled the notorious career of Hanoi Shan, identified for about forty years as the original person on whom Fu Manchu was created, till it turned up that Ashton-Wolfe had made it all up and was a known fraudster. batteredbox.com/Lost%20TreasuresPocket/19-HanoiShan.htm
