Watching the trailer “Hey remember when we had that Dalek invasion back in 2009 and last year when that Dalek creature massacred all those soldiers” “Yeah” “Wouldn’t it be great to create our own drones of them to protect the country” “Wait wouldn’t the general public freak out thinking the Daleks have invaded” “.....it will be fine” After Brexit and the run of Conservative governments, the British self-owning isn't so unbelievable.

Absolutely fair enough, but now with more screen-time available to her, just imagine the impact she can make! Actually, I find her a slow-burner of a character. Not instantly at the forefront of things like, perhaps Bill for example, but always quietly capable, loyal and to me, rather lovely. The little insights into her past life as seen in Series 12, that her past has not been an altogether happy one, and that she has been a little under-appreciated, warms me to her no end. I think there's still time for her to win you round, number13 ! Let's hope so! I do like liking characters, especially when they're obviously good people with good intentions. I think Yaz has been generally under-written and I thought 'Can You Hear Me?' was a case in point. I completely missed the full importance of her backstory which was suddenly just there at the end, popped into the last five minutes and I thought feeling quite disconnected from the all-action rest of the episode.
'Demons', 'Spyfall' and the later Cyber-stories were the times I thought she really got a chance for some of the limelight - for someone who is a trainee police officer she does seem surprisingly 'in the background' a lot of the time imo compared with someone like Bill, I agree, or imo compared with most other Companions new or classic.
Maybe if it is just her and the Doctor now, the writers will have to give Yaz the scripts to make her a more (looking for the right word here) noticable character? We'll see. We certainly will. I've a sneaking suspicion that there'll be a third person travelling in the TARDIS during Series 13 - but then I could be wrong: after all, I was convinced that the person the 12th Doctor had hidden away in the underground vault in Series 10 was the 1st Doctor!

That’s interesting I thought RuthDoctor was planned much further in advance!

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Also, all those soldiers were massacred, so their might not be a record of the Dalek or it might only be in the hands of people (we got a glimpse further upthread, I think, of a label imprinted with the logo of the company that held the remains of the recon Dalek) who think the design is ok and fully “safe.”

Ooo interesting! I hope we get more RuthDoctor! She at least deserves an episode to her self if not a whole BF series or taking over from Jodie!

Although I wouldn't be shocked if people are like "Dalek? What's a Dalek?" - I mean... Bill didn't recognize them, right? So it's not just a Chibnall thing.

Could be a hint the Sontarans are in more than one story, since this doesn't look very Victorian.

Very interesting... I'm hoping it's a proper story for them and not a cameo like their last few appearances have been.

Nice to see a socially distancing Weeping Angel!
Will this be the first time they're (presumably) not being written for by Steven Moffat? Interesting. I'm looking forward to this.

Awesome. If they keep the darker tone they developed during the last series in series 13, we might be in for a treat.
