There’s a rumour that the 2023 season will be a season of “other Doctor specials” .... which is EXACTLY what I would have done. A tenth Doctor special, an eighth Doctor special, a first Doctor special, a Fugitive Doctor special.... Honestly the idea of having other doctor specials (especially Paul McGann having a second full length appearance) is a brilliant and much needed idea unfortunately its never going to happen because its a good decision and the show runners don't know what they are doing
Why do you keep posting in this thread if you dislike the current show so much?

True, female fans have been given a role model. So just going back to a bloke again, even one who is gay seems a backwards step, taking away that female role model. Personally I think Jo Martin deserves better than being a plot device, she was so good to not use her as the next doctor given the fan base she's already generated feels like a wasted opportunity. You mean they couldn't create their own female role model (like Susan, Romana or River Song) and had to change a rare role model for boys
Did this post just fall through time from the past? I wonder what time it came from where role models for boys are rare. I pity you.

Feel free to pull apart these as 'rumours' as that is all they are - but please direct any critique not towards myself but the 'source'. I have no investment myself and am not a fan of his general disingenuous line of building things up with mild words of positivity so as to knock it down again. They are to me just rumours of which I am curious as to where the relation to actual facts may lie. However, does anyone have any insight into the line promoted by the following? He did predict, through claims of being well informed, the Timeless Children arc last year:

The BBC's "Planned Commitment" has only ever been up to the 60th Anniversary anyway and its never stated how often it would deliver new EPs in the Time frame.

I think they're too vague to really pull anything from, positive or negative.
Having a quick snoop around, the guy retweets NoelZone (an NMD who has said some gross stuff in the past) and has a youtube channel and yep, more 'Woke Who' complaining. I was going to post this up on the Extremist fans thread instead, but here is an example of critiquing something actually wrong with the show, and doing it without bad faith or buzzwords. Like why is this so hard for people to do, look how easy these two make it:

That's fair enough. I get a headache whenever I drift across their posts. The thing I am curious as to though, is whether the eight episodes do include the two specials as he claims, or whether we are up to ten episodes all in.

Tally time!
-8 episodes long. -Broadcasting in late 2021-possibly early 2022 (date TBC). -Ed Hime and Maxine Alderton returning as writers. One of the new writers will be coming via a Skillset bursary scheme for new talent (also happened for Call the Midwife). -Jaime Magnus Stone returns as director (Eps 1, 2 and 4). First new director will be Azhur Saleem (3 and 6, 5 potentially). -Filming began in November 2020, with safety measures and a longer schedule. -Chibnall has described S13 as 'ambitious' and building on threads from S12. -Chibnall is hoping to air episodes as soon as they're finished in post production. -Liverpool will be a recurring setting. -John Bishop will be new companion Dan. Yaz will be the returning companion. -Dan's parents will feature in a story, played by Paul Broughton and Sue Murphy. -Kevin McNally will be a guest star in a period episode. -Sontarans are returning in the first episode, in classic grey uniforms. They will also be in an episode featuring nursing pioneer Mary Seacole, in the Crimea. -Weeping Angels sighted filming in several locations, such as an urban street and Barry Beach. -Daleks will come back. -An episode will feature Chinese pirates, where the TARDIS crew dons period costuming again. -Either the Seacole ep or another period episode will see Dan and Yaz in Victorian clothing. -A castle will feature in an episode (Cardiff Castle being where they filmed). -A pair of white-headed aliens sighted driving a car. -One episode will involve some type of hiker/explorer and wildnerness setting, running from some unknown force. -A new Darkseid-looking villain has been spotted, masked, wearing black and gold and carrying some of 'sack'. -A green room with TARDIS-esque roundels was spotted in the Dan teaser - more Time Lord presence? -Dhawan has not yet been contacted to return as the Master.
-RUMOUR: S13 may have a darker tone. -RUMOUR: S13 may resolve the Timeless Child arc. -RUMOUR: S13 may focus on Yaz's mental state. -RUMOUR: S13 may be Jodie's final series, which may then lead off into a set of specials. 14th Doctor supposedly already cast. -RUMOUR: Jo Martin's Doctor may return. -RUMOUR: Chris Noth may return as Robertson, supposedly cited in Bristol filming. -RUMOUR: Gwendolyne Christie will have a role, possibly running into the next series. -RUMOUR: Angels may appear in more than one story. -RUMOUR: There may be a Xmas/New Year's special to plug the gap if 2021 is not viable. -RUMOUR: Cap. Jack may have been planned to returned, but in light of recent events, that may have been altered.

Alright then, ball seems to be rolling on publicity.
I’m sure fans will definitely keep their expectations in check with regards to the guest...

A Reddit post has popped up by someone claiming their “brother’s partner” works with Comic Con, claiming the Fourteenth Doctor will be revealed at the panel. As ever with Reddit rumours, almost certainly nonsense but there you are.

As ever with Reddit rumours, almost certainly nonsense but there you are. Interesting but as you say probably nonsense, especially given the way Chibnall likes to limit leaks & spoilers getting out. I doubt he'd want to introduce the next doctor when Jodie's final(?) season & specials haven't even been given official transmission dates yet. Or maybe it is Jo Martin (my personal preference) & its a case of him saying you'll be seeing more of her in Doctor Who hinting at her being 14?

There's more chance of them bringing out Noel Clarke and John Barrowman to compete in a 'Who's the biggest git?' competition than there is of 14 being announced.
Like JHD says, it's far more likely to be Jo Martin then anyone else.

Could be regarded as a highlight of the Event as Marvel and DC seem to have withdrawn in preference for Disney + Subscriber Events.

I can't see them doing a Comic Con 14th Doctor announcement, mainly because it's a niche event for the more hardcore fans, whereas I feel like dropping the reveal during half-time of a big sporting event is the best bet because it'll reach a lot more people. Also because the audience at Comic Con would be the first ones getting the news and it would trickle out afterwards so doesn't really seem fair or the ideal way to promote it...
Really, I see them promoting S13 more than anything at CC and maybe confirming the news of Jodie's departure. If the rumour is true that they're filming two specials to air next year, I don't see them rushing out a new Doctor announcement any time soon.

So, ranking predictive bets: 1) Jo Martin. 2) Sacha Dhawan. 3) Another face from RTD's time who will make a return (maybe/maybe not to replace whatever Jack was meant to do). 4) A celebrity guest star for a classic villain return. 5) A previous Doctor for a surprise crossover ep.

There will be one empty chair at the Con, then from off stage we hear a voice..."hello sweetie"

It’s the same guy from that intro teaser who read Dan’s horoscope.

Remember, DW´s PR people have funny ideas when it coes to exciting announcements. Fans expect exciting news to be new actors arriving or old actors leaving or missing episodes found, and don´t appreicate sitting up all night to find it´s an uninspiring Clara-less spinoff.
