Hope you were clapping at 8pm. Thanks guys x I fell asleep after work I didn’t even know it was going on lol But I’ve been sent lots of videos and I know they brought a tear to my eye...and am sure my colleagues and everyone in the NHS appreciates it. Thank you all so much on behalf of them too

Let’s see, clogged sinuses, sore ears, a headache that can’t decide if it wants to happen..... WHY YES, I do have a cold. Lovely. Now, do I take a day off or do I transition to “work from home”..... sick day I think.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Our school psych stopped by the room I was teaching in yesterday morning and offered me a “chat.” When we spoke a little bit later in the day, he said he’d been around all the staff making the same offer. A few took him up on it. I’ve been feeling a little “off” lately so I was glad to have a vent to a professional, having been through a couple of dark times in the past and learnt to recognise when I’m starting to feel the pressure. Long story short, I feel a little more my usual self today, so please, if you have the chance or opportunity to speak with someone take it. Even on the phone or through chat.

Some might find some hope from the video linked below. I found this video very interesting. It's kind of long but I thought it had some reasonable information. It's a recording of a Zoom call by an ICU doc in NYC talking about his experience with coronavirus patients. I looked him up and it seems he's collaborated on several papers on acute respiratory distress syndrome, the condition that is killing many COVID-19 patients. His main takeaways are wash your hands (or use hand sanitizer if you are in a place where you can't use soap and water) and don't touch your face if you haven't washed (or sanitized) your hands first. He also talked about social distancing (which we know about already). He said wearing a mask does not protect you from the disease but will keep you from touching your face, so he promoted the idea of wearing a (non-medical) mask. Anyway, here's the link: vimeo.com/399733860

Long story short, I feel a little more my usual self today, so please, if you have the chance or opportunity to speak with someone take it. Even on the phone or through chat. I guess this is one of the moments when I personally have appreciated the greatness of Chat media. Due to my work I had to basically decide am alone for the next few months so two weeks ago I forbade my family to come to my home so basically my new family and social contact has been my colleagues most of whom have someone at home since I live alone I go to work and apart from shopping and the odd solo walk at moment I come straight home ,so media comes in handy to keep me sane haha and have contact with my family and friends with no risk to them. I guess we’ll I know that eventually probably I will contract it and pray if I do I make a speedy recovery as we need the Nursing Staff. The strangest thing is me and my ex are instead of driving each other mad are actually keeping each other’s spirits up and I thank God for that healing too.Sometimes being robbed of our usual outlets makes us really appreciate everything we really do have especially family and friends. Off for another day in the hospital. With my boss of on sick am carrying a load at moment but learning new things to help colleagues in harder hit areas as wee gear up for dealing with more and more cases but somehow I hope GOD hears my prayers and this scenario ends fast. at the end of this am retiring early and going to work in a supermarket-or something that will shut down next time -just joking-God Bless Healthcare and it’s workers all over the world...and thanks everyone for the support

I saw a poster on a electronic billboard thanking NHS staff and I started to cry- believe me my department hasn’t been hit as hard as the patients I have to treat can sometimes have symptoms that mimic the fever so it’s hard to be certain till they are tested ( a test that we have to wait 8 hours for a result)so basically we have to treat them as suspected. But that poster just set me off crying lol not only have i a new appreciation and respect for those that dealt directly with SARS and Ebola but for the NHS that we have. I see a lot of ministers blaming and blaming and blaming what does that help?Just everybody get together and get on with it the world was caught off guard that’s all ,we arent the SUPERMEN/WOMEN some people seem to think they are .

So I spoke to a Nurse today.. She warned me it looks like tomorrow the call will be made- all private hospitals to be closed as of tomorrow- all non essential/non critical/non urgent surgeries will be cancelled. I guess we will see..!
EDIT: For more clarity..
Was advised it's apparantly to make way for the Corona virus cases, giving them priority over non essential procedures etc.
She sounded sincere so I will take it with a grain of salt until/if it is made official. Given my work position I tend to hear things before it's made "general publically known"
(This is Australia btw)
Why did I get the scoop before "The Guardian"..? :-(

So in South Australia as of tomorrow the "Barossa Valley" regions (far north area just on the cusp of country area) will have all schools and child care centres closed- Theres been about 34 cases up there so they are locking that down.
