Can we all just check in with each other to see how we are doing?

OK here. Will hopefully be working from home more & am going to take the stance that we are in lockdown & curb some of my non-essential social activities.

I end my isolation period tonight with no signs and symptoms and resume work on Monday. Originally I was allowed to work then certain categories changed and I had to go into isolation. I pray God keeps you and yours all safe and well.

I’m ok at moment but mental heath is not great with the media in overdrive....... I’m am apparently at major risk as on blood pressure tablets, diabetic and a man.......and a carer too
Ive not left the house in two weeks......self isolation to protect me (and my mam)
Be it hype or fact, it’s terrified me. In a way I never thought possible........

I’m doing well where I am. I admit, this whole situation has been strenuous to watch unfold - especially since I work in media - but I’m more concerned about people panicking than anything else. I think it’s very easy to get caught up in the hysteria, but you have to ground yourself and realize there are some very easy steps to take to keep the virus at bay. Every single person who can keep a level head right now and help calm other people down is immensely helpful.
So that’s sort of where I am with this I suppose. Weary optimism.

I am fine.
But I am worried sick about relatives and friends who are old, infirm or disabled and about my little niece who suffers from severe asthma. Three friends of mine were on the Star Trek cruise in the Caribbean and are now stranded in the US and have no idea how and if and when they can come back to Europe.
I have had trouble sleeping the past 2 nights because I worry so much.
Public life here has basically shut down, curfews are being discussed. There were panic buys in the supermarket even in my small village. No idea what the situation will be if we have infected at work and if the company will have to shut down for a period of time.
I really hope all of you are safe.

By the way, thank you for starting this thread. We should really look out for each other. I know we cannot really change anything about the situation, but this is exactly why we should at least virtually huddle together and support each other.

Sorry (as I know some folks can get offended) But I will add you to my prayers as prayers calm me also and I will pray it extends over you too. Switch off the news watch it once at the same time, then go about your chores and I will be thinking of you during this mate

I have been home only because of my post op recovery- I trust in the Science overall.
It's the sheep herd mentality of people panicking and stocking up on the toilet paper and hand sanitisers etc. It's very frustrating.
Schools here in Australia may have to close down for a few weeks which will affect my wife who's a teacher.
The economic effect is whats gonna be bad if this happens.

In a way I never thought possible........ Main thing as has been said, limit your access to news be it in traditional papers, tv or social media. I think 24 hours news has had a negative impact on all our mental health. Try not to worry too much but at the same time just be realistic with yourself. If self-isolating gives you control over your personal health & circumstances then that's fine. But I would say leave the house, even if it is just for a short walk. You need fresh air & a chance to be away from the confines of your home even if just for 10 minutes. If you are really worried then choose a time when you know not a lot of people will be out. This will really benefit your mental well-being. & then just wash your hands with soap when you get back. We all should wash our hands more anyway regardless of what is currently happening, especially men who are dirty gits! Try to find things to occupy your time when indoors or you will be drawn back to constantly watching the news. Any hobbies you've wanted to do? Small jobs around the house that you've never had time for? Now's the time. Try to see this time as an opportunity to do those things. You could even do some free online courses, study something new or return to something you enjoyed at school. Futurelearn has a lot of free courses. Maybe get a yoga mat & do some yoga, there are free yoga classes on YouTube like Yoga Withth Adrienne. This can also really help you to relax & benefit your mental well-being. Create a routine so you have a plan for the day & your time is structured. & finally keep in touch with people by phone, Skype, WhatsApp etc. Or even just the weirdos that hang out here on this forum!

In a way I never thought possible........ I am increasingly tied up in the care of my Mother also, to ease the burden on my Father. I have no worry apart from how it will affect their health and of the need to be careful myself as a potential carrier. Perspective is everything though. I have checked the BBC website tool www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274 which is useful to see how your area is affected (UK). For myself, there is currently only one case confirmed of a local population of 600,000 and in the nearby county, where I travel once a week for leisure purposes, 4 cases out of another 600,000. There are practical reasons why we need to keep things going as normal. If people bunker down too soon, they may get complacent before things peak. For a lot of school kids, School is a refuge from abusive/unhappy homes and often where they get their main meal of the day, and many parents are needed in hospitals and key services. So things have to keep going for as long as practicable. As others have said, it could be 3 months before things reach a peak. Best to take care and in good health (physical and mentally) in the meantime. That means getting out and about.

Romans 8:28 a favourite verse of mine, especially for times like these.
Psalm 139:16 another good one
