I am hearing so many conspiracy theories on whether this is good/bad/true/false/a ploy/add your favorite conspiracy angle. Ditto. At work yesterday we discussed one theory that he got infected on purpose to win the election. That is ridiculous. Even he would not be THAT stupid, I actually think he is quite clever and calculated in his own little way. It was pure ignorance, plain and simple.
I am also worried about the other guy during that TV debate (aerosoles and so on)- an absolute worst case scenario would be if both candidates got severely ill.
Is there a precedent for something like that?

Brilliant.
Although, it is not really a laughing matter and I am aware I am indulging in what the Germans call "Schadenfreude".

Second lockdown in Germany due to sky-rocketing COVID numbers and a situation out of control. It is on these days that I REALLY hate people and their egotism, lack of common sense and lack of sense in general.

In any case, do make sure to look after yourself.

A lot of people in my area have already begun panic buying. Went for my walk today and saw people carrying toilet rolls, pasta and milk by the dozen.
Considering I live somewhat in the countryside I’m almost surprised I didn’t see anyone in one of the fields making off with one of the cows.
Facetiousness aside, it’s very worrying and I fear this lockdown may be worse than the first. Not to mention I’ve accepted I’m probably going to spend the rest of the year as unemployed as I have been since last year. Job hunting is a pain at the best of times even when the world isn’t currently crumbling around you.
Still, you got to laugh haven’t you?
At least I’m trying to.

This panic buying annoys me supermarkets won't close, delivery will continue as they did before, society become selfish sadly.
Personally I'm broken man can't cope being couped up with parents another month, can't see my cousin or niece feel very depresse & disheartened.

I don't get the panic buying this time around - we all know supply chains didn't collapse last time, so why would anyone suppose they will collapse this time?
I can understand parents wanting to get Christmas presents in early for the kids to avoid disappointment on 25th December, but there was no toilet roll / pasta shortage last time, so why this time?

Taking your Christmas example aside for one moment I guess we can chalk it up to people being afraid and letting their fear cloud their sense of judgement. Considering how things have been handled I’d imagine a lot of people are worried they’ll simply be left behind by our current Government or, if things do get much, much worse, tighter restrictions will have to come into effect meaning they’ll be unable to feed their families. Not so much greed really but I think sheer desperation. Even if said desperation is rather unfounded. It’s really unfortunate it’s come to this again. I’m personally rather concerned that come the end of this second lockdown (although I personally think it’ll go on much longer then simply the 2nd December) the Christmas rush will cause cases to hit the stratosphere. And then some.

Let’s hope this see a change to the uk tactics n we follow the Asian model Much harsher restrictions, and try the eradicate rather than manage strategy.
There will be much more pain, but far far better results and a better economy for it......
Australia has switched to this tactic and got much better results........
Stay safe everyone........

It is ridiculous and counter-productive behaviour, but (trying to be charitable here) I suppose it's understandable & instinctive, if daft.
I guess that in worrying times people have a natural reaction of: 'I must do something, this is something therefore I will do it.' *
Hence the milk lakes, pasta piles and mountains of toilet roll, but the spike in demand will pass just like last time: the supply chain not only survived intact, it expanded hugely to meet increased demand.
Having said that, if I was a farmer, I might glue my cows down for a while, just in case...
* (Yes, that is another quote from 'Yes, Minister'! )

* (Yes, that is another quote from 'Yes, Minister'! ) As erudite as ever number13! Completely agree. It’s daft but I suppose at the end of the day it’s just trying to obtain some semblance of control/normality over the madness that is the current world we are living in. Frightened people do some silly things after all. Personally, as I stated before I’m more concerned about the inevitable Christmas rush once this lockdown lifts. People will do anything for a decent Christmas (and to be honest I somewhat empathise) considering how terrible this year has been. Still stiff upper lip and all that.

Going to be perfectly honest here but when it came to the previous lockdown, I felt like I handled it rather well. I think because I consider myself a rather solitary (and to be honest quite sullen) person having to stay confined didn’t bother me so much. My family are a big believer in the phrase ‘stiff upper lip” after all.
But now the thought of a second lockdown and having to endure the next few months in this unchanging, monotonous state is really getting to me. It’s almost as if this last year never happened because I’m exactly in the same position I was since I graduated last year. Stuck in this stagnating state with nothing but my thoughts to occupy myself with.
It sounds melodramatic I know and plenty of you are probably rolling your eyes at this but sometimes I feel like it’s just anger and loathing that’s keeping me going. I mean I used to write comedic sketches as a hobby but I haven’t done that for ages now due to feeling so empty with nothing but contempt left in me. Going for my daily walks does nothing for me now once I realised that no matter how far I walk I have to come back and confront what my life has become.
I’m sorry if this comes across like a rant. I really am. Just needed to get this off my chest and I know there are people out there in far worse a state at least I can see my family (and perhaps I’m just a ungrateful s*d) but I just needed to get this off my chest. I like to think things may get better because I’m quite frankly dreading 2021.
