If it was up to me, and thank goodness it's not you all say, I'd up the 3DAs to 2 per year - 1 with Katy as we currently have and one with Daisy or Sadie (or both, as each release has 2 stories). The other change I would make is to do 6 part stories. TV Pertwee had more 6 parters than 4 parters so 6 parters feel more like authentic Pertwee than 4 parters to me. I second both your very sound suggestions which would result in lots more 3DA time! (Let's say a 4-parter and a 6-parter in each box, 10 CDs a year instead of 4... just imagine... )

Something just struck me other day that there's never been a story on. How come the Brigs ok with a journalist hanging about UNIT all the time? Plus I can't see Sarah happy at having everything she wrote D-Noticed, but they must've come to some sort of agreement at some point, as she's still publishing and getting access passes from him in Robot.

AS an aside, now they've recast SJ, what about a one-off that sorts out the end of her audio adventures, and maybe leaves her on the way to The Sarah Jane Adventures tv show?

I think the tone of both things is so very different I struggle to think that's needed. The Sarah Jane range is really quite adult in places and certainly wouldn't be anyone's idea of how to lead into a CBBC show. She has these BFadventures..then later has the SJA ones.

By "leaves her on her way", I really only meant "not the ending the Sarah Jane range currently has". I'm not looking for a bridging episode. Just that She be in a position to start the TV show however many years later.

Regards mark687 I think that Sarah got in so deep and learned so many secrets about UNIT and the government during the dinosaur invasion that afterwards the Brig. realised she had to be trusted. And Sarah had proved she could be trusted - unlike some of the Brig.'s former superiors!
Anyway, the Doctor probably told him that he liked having Sarah around and that she was a great help... 'and you don't even have to put her on the payroll, eh Alistair? Save some of that government money you're always worrying about!' 'Oh, very well Doctor, if you insist! Against the regulations of course... but if it's strictly unofficial... I don't suppose Geneva have to know...' 'Splendid! We'll make a rebel of you yet!' 'Oh really, Doctor!'

Well What they could do is simply make it like The Lives of Captain Jack Three Stories
Two Stories involving Jo Grant One Story involving Liz or Sarah
that way everyone is happy- we get an extra story and people can adjust to a pure recast story (bar Benton or Yates)

Random thought... Since the Doctor tends to be fairly involved with his laboratory work, do you think the Brigadier runs some of UNIT's more questionable cover stories by Sarah to check their credibility? Off the record, of course. Having that journalist background would be great for smoothing over some of the less plausible aspects of whatever was slid across the Public Relations desk. I can imagine it being something they do to pass the time in the evening, waiting for the Doctor, before Headquarters is sealed for the night.

That's an image... A room of laboratory equipment. Bubbling, whirring and chittering. With just a single antique desklamp and the light of the TARDIS to catch the Doctor's shadow as he moves back and forth as though it's broad daylight.

Regards mark687 Like The Moneypenny Diaries, I would actually pay money to read that. I can imagine that Barry eventually gets the nickname Jeeves from that. Not from the Doctor, but other UNIT fellows working at night who have picked up on it.

She turns out to be Missy in disguise, doing a favour for an earlier incarnation by delivering a Sontaran Urn of Obliteration to the Doctor's lab. And biscuits.

I love Katy’s performance, it’s clear years of the smokes have aged (Dare one pun “tarred”?) her voice but she’s an excellent performer who always sells you on the idea she’s still a shining seventies gal... but if we are getting a new Sarah-Jane - it’s time for at least two box sets where it’s Sarah stories. A few seasons of Tombo and Sarah Jane as well please, especially if they can recapture that spirit of stories like Planet of Evil, or Mandragora.

for me the more three the better...….tim showed that you can have a doctor that's not an impression, but a full performance its not pertwee its the third doctor.
I would like jo to stay as long as she is able but I would like anything extra...…..Tim is a doctor now like david Bradley is the 1st...…...I would like to have a recast for 2nd doctor next, Frazier's ok but its an impression
we coming to the point in time now where moving forward its needs recast or.....well I wont state the obvious

For me, I can only really justify recasts if it’s for a character that wasn’t going to ever have any full cast stories or really have a chance at BF otherwise.
Like I just couldn’t justify recasting any of the Main Range Doctors because they’ve already done more than enough audios already. I can’t see how a recast could add anything more.
The 3DAs and 1DAs are opportunities for the First and Third Doctors to have their own Main Range stories that they wouldn’t otherwise have gotten.

Can't have a good obliteration without biscuits. Have you read The Heralds of Destruction, Paul Cornell's Third Doctor comic, by any chance? (He asked, thinking to himself this idea... may exist in a similar form already.)

(He asked, thinking to himself this idea... may exist in a similar form already.) Biscuits? There were biscuits involved in the comic story? (quickly scans through the comic, but not finding it). Heralds of Destruction was a good story. Probably something many would describe as complete fan-w*nk, but I liked it.
It had all my favorites in it, on the good side as well as the bad.
Also the story line is something I have a certain weakness for.
However, it could be seen as the Doctor Who equivalent of the movie 10000 BC. Sabertooth tigers! Mammoths! Old Egyptians and Pyramids! And then it went completely off the rails with: Dinosaurs! Aliens!
A movie that had everything. I might be one of the few people who had a great and fun time watching it in the cinema.
