Beavers and parker does sound like an interesting boxset and i would be interested, but personally i think i quite like Beavers being the “propper” master for lack of a better word at big finish (along with McQueen). Not an Anti hero like Missy or Roberts, or the evil but mostly removed from the doctor due to continuity War Master. Just the plain evil master facing the doctor.
After all, the master is and should be a villain and more importantly an antagonist, first and foremost. Making them a protagonist (even if they are still being villainous) shouldn’t happen too much so as to not dilute the character and should only be for the Masters who can’t face the doctor (its why i think maybes that story idea but with The War Master would be pretty sweet.
Personally my want would be simm as again theres not a lot of spaces for him to fight the doctor (i suppose he could face smith but we don’t have smith yet so)

Surprised that according to the latest podcast we won’t be getting a John Simms Master set any time soon. I really did think, with him returning to the role in Masterful, that it was a near certainty, but instead it is a case of one and done!
I can only assume he did the 50th Anniversary set because he knew it would be a special release, but obviously doesn’t want to continue the character.
The good news must be that a set for the Alex MacQueen Master and/or the Geoffrey Beevers Master must now be a little more likely to happen.
But with the War Master range, the Missy range and now the Master! set getting such good reviews with talk of potentially more from Eric Roberts, perhaps Big Finish think they have the character of the Master well and truly covered already with newer and (I suspect) more marketable leads.

I adore the War Master and hope his sets continue for many years. I'd be curious for a Delgado recast, with so many characters recast in the Third Doctor range it would be a fun opportunity to tell new stories. I love the McQueen Doctor, he really makes me chuckle, any new stories with him would be great.
I'd love to hear Simms Master actually pull off a plan without stupendous failure, he's often portrayed as a mad dog that fails to see the big picture, for me it's important that the Master is the Doctors equal and not a Scooby Doo villain. I like the idea of the Doctor only escaping by the skin of his teeth much like Empire Strikes Back.

Honestly I think the 3DAs will only and always be incomplete without recasting Delgado. Finding an actor capable of hamming things up even half so much would be a big ask, but it's gotta happen eventually, right? Though it might also be fun to the Treloar's 3rd Doctor face off against subsequent iterations of the Master. Like a special boxset where the 3rd Doctor and UNIT face off against Beevers, Gomez, Macqueen and... not sure who would make the best fourth, but you get what I mean... in the 1970s.

Gomez and MacQueen would be problematic as both their introductions to the Doctor relied on him not recognising their version of the Master. I agree that a Delgado recast is a must for the range and at some point I hope they give us his regeneration sacrificing himself for either Jo or the Doctor or both. And on the subject of recasts, now we have a Sarah Jane Smith, I would like for her to meet the Master…but what version? And with which Doctor?

For me I think the masters that could meet the 3rd Doctor are either Pre Decayed Beevers or Dreyfus come to think of it I think that the original goal of his master was that he was eventually going to meet the third doctor but yeah sadly that won’t ever happen now

A pre-crispy Beevers Master could be delightful. But, really, any Beevers would be. Might need a new moniker, though. The Undercooked Master? Gomez and MacQueen would be problematic as both their introductions to the Doctor relied on him not recognising their version of the Master. I agree that a Delgado recast is a must for the range and at some point I hope they give us his regeneration sacrificing himself for either Jo or the Doctor or both. You mean like any of the Classic Doctors meeting River Song? Or the 8th or 10th Doctor meeting the War Master? Pretty sure Big Finish doesn't so much as blink at problematic continuity hurdles. Anyway, Y E S -- you are absolutely right -- we need a proper "final story" for the original Master. Bring that whole relationship to a close... though I'm personally torn on whether the this Master would ultimately do something redemptive, almost do something redemptive but decide otherwise at the last moment, or do the redemptive thing, dies, and then immediately regenerates into a new incarnation that immediately undoes, or tries to undo everything.

we need a proper "final story" for the original Master. We've already got *two*. Be careful, else it'll turn into another Liz-leaves, or Peri-leaves, or God-help-us-it's-Shada-again.

What are you referencing? I'm only aware of this Master's role in the TV show, where he was last seen floundering about with Daleks and Ogrons.

Well, I just finished New Recruit.... I agree that a Delgado recast is a must for the range and at some point.... ...Probably pretty obvious where this going, but just to err on the side of caution, I'll use the spoiler formatting. {Spoiler}We've got Jon Culshaw's voicing the Delgado Master in the River Song/3DA crossover set. This marks his second time mimicking Delgado in a big release (previously he played Kamelion-mimicking-the-Master), and presumably this indicates he'll make the jump to the 3DAs proper soon.
Personally I think his Delgado is excellent. Not 100%, of course, but as close to it as I think we're liable to get. The way he talks about each syllable having a half-life of sorts in the BTS track is also very, very Delgadoesque.

Well, spoilers for the BBC novel Legacy of the Daleks, the Doctor Who Magazine comic Doorway to Hell and the Big Finish audio The Two Masters: He got turned directly into the Crispy Master in Legacy of the Daleks (by a vengeful Susan Campbell, no less!), but everything that book does has been redone, undone or ignored by future stories (the Big Finish EDAs posit a different life for Susan, for instance). In the case of Delgado's regeneration, it was shown at the end of Doorway to Hell - we don't see who he turns into - and of course, we heard a pre-crispy Geoffrey Beevers in The Two Masters.

And in case you were wondering Thomas Terrane is an anagram of “Another Master” and is basically for a new incarnation or an existing (perhaps in another medium) incarnation that I haven’t included on the list. I liked the synonym as it has the name Master in the middle of it! It probably isn’t original, but I had fun creating it. Forgive me quoting myself!
