I found BF to be really discrete this week. This announce absolutely makes up for it. Can we expect an episode with Samuel Barnett as Cicero, since David Llewellyn is writing one episode ? Pretty please ?

Huh. I shouldn’t really be surprised but I must admit I am.
Almost wonder if this could end up as a Jago and Litefoot esque series but for the era of the Roman Empire.

What a pleasant surprise! It's one of those that shouldn't come as a shock, as Arthur's done work with Big Finish already and quite recently, but it's not a range we've had hints about. I'll be picking these up. I love the character and I think this is a great gap in the absence of Matt and Karen.
It'd be nice if they got Arthur in for a River Song between now and release to shorten the gap a little!

It'd be nice if they got Arthur in for a River Song between now and release to shorten the gap a little! Almost feels that’s inevitable at some point. As someone already suggested a while back, you could do a boxset with her and other historical characters such as Churchill and Reinette.

Interesting the explanation as to why they're doing this Highlanderish series rather than Rory stories between timetravelling episodes.

Well now...consider me very, very intrigued.
With two thousand years of alternate history to play with and a lead of Arthur's calibre this has the potential to go in lots of directions* with possible guest voices to boot. Unfortunately a bit too early to commit to buying right now, but a few tantalising hints in the months to come could easily persuade me to part with my card number on the website..😊
*Correct me if I am wrong as it's been a while since I've watched series 5..(*cough*10 years!), but I think I remember something about the Centurion pulling the Pandorica out of a burning warehouse? Possibly during World War II?.

Interesting the explanation as to why they're doing this Highlanderish series rather than Rory stories between timetravelling episodes. It's a fairly obvious gap to put stories in whilst BF have Arthur but not Matt or Karen, isn't it?

Hmm... I think I wait for a bit more information before I commit here. Plus, it is still a year away, so I have plenty of time to make up my mind. I enjoy Rory, but right now I am not sure this is what I am looking for...

Well, I can't say I saw this one coming! I like this series of "Companions on their own" that BF is doing! Now I suddenly want a crossover between all of them - Rose's Dimension Cannon takes her through Martha's year alone, then into the Pandorica/Centurion alternate universe, then she meets Jenny (who's lost out of her own dimension) and then she finally connects with Donna Noble... but in the wrong universe.

Well, that was a nice surprise for a Friday afternoon! I’d preorder right away but unfortunately lacking the funds so will have to wait until pay day. Can’t wait to get more details on this!

Big Finish holds the licence to produce Nu Series Doctor Who. As long as David Tennant is the only NU Doctor they have access to, spin-offs and companion-centric box sets are what we are going to get. There really is no point in having a licence if you are not going to exploit it. That said, a 2,000 year time frame would seem to offer a lot of storytelling possibilities.

I'm definitely not surprised that Rory is our first companion from the Eleven era to work with Big Finish. I like him and I think he'll be a nice addition to the audio family.

I am intrigued by this and will definitely buy it once I have some income again. Fortunately it looks like release is quite a ways off, so I've got plenty of time to get in on preorder pricing.

While this was certainly a pleasant surprise, what's even more surprising is that Big Finish has already committed to a second volume.

One of those ranges I might get on CD for my office bookshelf geek display.

I am, Arthur Darvill always came across as being in the same category as Christopher Eccelston, “I’m proud of what I did, but I like to move forward, not look backwards”.
