That was probably the fastest download I've had of a box set from BF.
It totally disrupts my plans for what I was going to listen to on the way to work today...!

Struggling a bit to hear some of the quieter voices in The Eleven . It might just be my ears ... Cheers Tony

I enjoyed The Eleven a lot - good introduction to a distinctive character. I was on headphones so no problems on the voices for me

Enjoyed it. Maybe not quite as much as the Dark Eyes or EDA series, but it was still quite good. I found it interesting that Eight had a bit more presence in this one, that he was more effortlessly in charge than we've necessarily seen him in the past. Which makes for kind of an interesting juxtaposition with now casually he carried himself through most of this boxset.
The Eleven (both the episode and the character) were pretty brilliant. Loved both right away, and am quite interested to see where things go from here. Very creative new villain--though I have a sneaking suspicion that his final appearance/defeat will be one of his personalities redeeming himself, rather than being outright defeated by dear Doctor.
There didn't seem to be much of a coalition anywhere, so I'm a little puzzled about the title. Perhaps it'll become clear as the series goes on.
One quite big head-scratcher for me was how this release fits into the overall Eight/Gallifrey chronology. We've seen that, until now, the Gallifrey line runs more or less parallel with Eight's life. Explicit mentions are made in the first few series of Gallifrey that he's gone (to the Divergent Universe), possibly never to return. Then later on, after they're back following Gallifrey series 6, Narvin turns up as "Coordinator-in-extremis" in Dark Eyes 2. Since then we've had Intervention Earth, which features Romana (Trey) as President and Narvin as CIA Coordinator. But along comes this release and the CIA has a completely different Coordinator, and the other Time Lords seem to be referring to Romana's rule in past tense (though I'll concede that Fitton went to very deliberate lengths not to name the current administration).
Maybe Enemy Lines will clear it up...

There is clearly a bigger story given the clue at the end of Satanic Mill and as hinted at in the extras. As long as it doesn't involve Daleks!

Very much enjoyed this. It felt like much more of an adventure than at any time during Dark Eyes where everything felt like an ordeal (intentionally so). This is The Doc, Liv and Helen embracing the thrill of danger. It's almost parallel to the tv series right now whre The Doctor has picked up on Clara's death wish. Another curious parallel to Series 9...Ramon Tikaram's Castellan tells Liv that The Doctor is lying about leaving Gallifrey because he was bored - it was a lot more urgent than that. It's very interesting this pops up with McGann and Capaldi in the same month. Loved the Stazer sound effects returning

And having the surprise actor at the start of the first disc is a great idea but totally ruined by having that section in the trailer. That's two boxsets in a row where not revealing that actor's prescence would be a lovely surprise for listeners but it gets ruined in advance by BF themselves.
I've no idea why anyone would think this was a good idea to blow the "surprise".

So as well as teasing that The Doctor is lying about why he left Gallifrey, this set also featurs The Doc wishing he had sunglasses...I think there's been some conferring going on at the back of the class

I've no idea why anyone would think this was a good idea to blow the "surprise". Marketing, again, announcing it generates interest, provokes peoples imaginations and interest, which in turn garners sales. To expand and to go sideways with the topic at hand, to me this focus on marketing shows the huge shift BF has undergone in the last 1 to 2 years, no longer focused on how a story is received by the fans, but focused on sales even if that undermines the fans experience.

While I agree it's surely marketing that made them think its worth blowing the guest appearance this and The Last Adventures - don't you think that Doom Coaltion and Sixie's regen sell themselves? It's not as if they made any kind of deal about the "surprise" cameo anyway, just stuck him on the cast list for one and trailer for another. I can't see adding him giving either set even a tiny sales boost either. DId you see any sign of having him on the trailer "generating interest, provoking peoples imaginations and interest"? I certainly didn't on any forum or facebook page. If it were a Nu-Who Doctor it would make more sense releasing his involvement to spike sales a bit. Maybe BF just aren't marketing quite the right way

I can't say, I always got my news of BF releases from the forum, I never pay much attention to BF's marketing beyond looking at various things pointed out on the forum, but I look at them because I'm already interested, not the other way around.

I enjoyed this a lot, though I thought the first two stories were stronger than the latter two. All still enjoyable, though. I am wondering what happened to that River cameo...

Personally I think for such a small cameo it is silly to spoil the surprise. I can understand if the character was going to be a major part of the story but otherwise... And McCoy is certainly making a lot of cameos recently

See, I thought that, but there was a tweet from BF advertising DC and teasing cameos from Seven and River, so I assumed it was part of DC1.

The McCoy cameo announcement bothered me way more in The Last Adventure cause I spent the whole length of Brink waiting for him to show up! What a surprise that would have been! At least in this one, he was only in the prologue so the spoiler didn't ruin any late development.

Helen didn't leave much of an impact on me. She was pretty much generic companion material, brave, looking for something more, a bit impulsive and holds wider perspective. But apart from her musings at one point in Galileo Trap reflecting her academic background, nothing much about her stood out for me.
The Eleven is an inspired creation, and in later box sets I'd enjoy hearing his personalities really clash, affecting the objective of The Eleven (literally sabotaging himself!). Make him come off like Blue Beetle in the Young Justice cartoon.
