Even then though, the season 27 stories were butchered and changed from what they would be. Certain Lost Stories weren't changed enough, like "Prison in Space". There's a reason it didn't make it past the draft phase originally. If they were going to produce it at all, they should have updated it with a more believable and sympathetic, yet ultimately still misguided, motivation for the matriarchal takeover, like fear that men being allowed to have positions of power would lead to more wars, especially if it were set right after a war. Instead we have dominatrix stereotypes, a dictator who's motivated by her own unattractiveness, and Jamie spouting sexist rhetoric he never did in the series, where he had no problem with girls adventuring through time and space. I think the issue is that if you start changing Lost Stories too much it defeats the purpose of the exercise, especially in the case of Prison because it was a complete script. I think the correct thing to do would have been to not produce Prison in Space at all, because it's a horrific piece of undisguised misogyny and the show dodged a bullet by not making it.

Covers look nice. But I still don't quite get the point of releasing something like this.

Well, the original Arc in Space script was apparently a bit different to what we have got, so I am at least curious about that one. I also love a claustrophobic alien menace story. I am, however, not so sure about the Dalek Genesis story.

Covers look nice. But I still don't quite get the point of releasing something like this. It's interesting to see two of the oddest Big Finish Doctor Who releases finally come together like this, and these covers are intriguing. The Molloy Davros, someone else (looks like Molloy again) playing the bubble-wrapped Noah ... it does begin to look a little irresistable ...

I like Molloy.
Also, who can resist a giant puffball? ? ? They are TASTY! Sliced up, fried with some nice garlic and bacon as a nice big mushroom steak?
(getting hungry, should cook dinner now....)
(that is me foraging in the NZ bush for edibles during my scientific studies; if it was said to be edible, be sure I have tried it. This includes of course Huhu-grubs Born hunter-gatherer )

Terry being in both of these is presumably a meta joke about Michael Wisher playing Davros in the TV Genesis and Magrik in Revenge?

The covers look good, but yes, I'm another who doesn't really see the 'point' of these... Depending on how much overtime I do between now & then? I might get 'The Ark', because it looks at least different enough from the as-broadcast story to be "it's own separate thing". As for 'Genesis'? I won't begrudge anyone for getting it but, for me at least, it's very much a case of "thanks, no thanks" as it 'just' sounds like a 4part version of a story I'm average on...

They’ve still done a bloody awful job at explaining just what the whole Genesis release actually is. I’m still none the wiser.

First drafts are not Lost Stories. Absolutely pointless waste of everyone's time.

While it remains to be seen if they truly are “Lost Stories”, I preordered them last year because of Tom & Sadie. And I’m ok with Christopher as Harry as well. I like this Tardis team & enjoyed their “Lost Stories” version of Return of the Cybermen.
I wish they’d make a new category for these types of stories though. Like…”First Drafts” or something.

I am intrigued, they keep going on about how it's different. Hopefully not just empty hype.. And Terry/Davros with the bubble wrap arm? !!

I admit, I'm looking forward to Ark more than the first draft of Genesis, I've always loved Marco Polo and it'll be nice to see how a sci fi penned story from John Lucarotti would have turned out.

I can understand the scepticism about Genesis, but The Ark absolutely isn't a "first draft", it's a totally different version, by a different writer, with many different ideas not used in Robert Holmes' version.

Gorgeous, eye catching covers to be sure, but I'm afraid right now I'd give more urgency to picking up series 9 to 11 of Bernice Summerfield than I would either of these. My curiosity simply hasn't been piqued by what I've read in the article. Perhaps I'll feel differently when the reviews come out.
That said, I'd have happily paid £10.99 just for the Philip Hinchcliffe interview with Samira Ahmed..

Genesis of Terror is a fully-dramatised version of the original part 1, followed by a dramatic reading (in the style of the previous Lost Stories for the first three Doctors) of the story outline for the remainder.

Thanks for that. It still remains one of the oddest releases Big Finish have ever done though 🙂
