Hello! So I was made aware of this forum because one of the members (or just lurkers maybe, idk who he is, as shown by the above post) has been launching personal attacks against me on social media over my story (“I Kamelion”), citing this forum’s (by name) dislike of it as a weapon of some kind. I’m 100% that is no reflection upon you all as people, this stuff is professional, not personal after all. (At least I hope!) So I decided to say hello anyway! (At this point it’s closure for me. 😂) I’m very grateful to those who enjoyed it, and I’m genuinely really sorry to those of you who didn’t enjoy it but I very much appreciate you taking the time to listen to it anyway. I am absolutely the least experienced professionally of probably any of the current BF writers (and it definitely shows, I’ll beat ya to that joke ), and for that I can only apologise, and to those who left criticism I will absolutely take that on board for anything else I do in the future. And obviously, I have no grudges against anyone who didn’t like it, that would be stupid. It obviously wasn’t my intention to create a piece that would be so mixed, I don’t think anyone sets out to do that, but all i can and will try to do is improve for the future. So I appreciate the feedback nonetheless! I am personally proud of the piece though for the other elements - I’m thoroughly grateful that Dan have such a marvellous performance, and the music/sound design was grand. On a technical level I’m grateful to have been surrounded by such talents! Anyway, sending my very best, keep safe. I’ve absolutely loved your YouTube videos for a very long time and I just wanted to say I’m so, so happy to not only welcome you to the forum (though I do wish you had discovered us under better circumstances) but also to congratulate you for getting a script made at Big Finish! I can’t wait to “see” what’s next!

Whoever sent that tweet to Dominic clearly reads or posts - whoever you are? Only one smug git here, and it isnt Dom! Well, two - you, the Phantom Tweeter and...Im a bit smug too....but I use my own name and dont make it personal. Be better, whoever you are. Just...be kind.
Dominic, I have not listened yet - I will be honest when I do but any criticism I offer will be in the "critique" sense, not rudeness like this person. On behalf of the forum - I am truly sorry this is how you discovered us. But...since you found our worst - the only way is up!

Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking when I chose him, but stranger things have been made I'm sure! Peladon I hugely enjoyed assisting with, it's a fantastic set. (Fully aware of the bias in that statement mind you. ) Welcome to the forum man i hope to hear more stories from you in the future you are a talented guy (the fan films you did on youtube are really solid) and i think you have heaps of potential just think Robert Holmes first story he wrote was The Krotons and he went on to write some of the best doctor who stories of all time so keep at it Hello, thank you so much! That is one development cycle to aspire towards, I keep forgetting about Krotons. We all gotta start somewhere, eh? I’ve absolutely loved your YouTube videos for a very long time and I just wanted to say I’m so, so happy to not only welcome you to the forum (though I do wish you had discovered us under better circumstances) but also to congratulate you for getting a script made at Big Finish! I can’t wait to “see” what’s next! Aw thank you so much! Thanks for watching the videos! (Hey it is what it is!) but yes, it's an honour to have worked with them on anything. It's the baseless insults that you can't really do anything with haha. Honestly, though - no doubt in my mind you're all solid people, I appreciate the welcome and I may stick around from time to time! It gives me an opportunity to meet new people acquainted with BF and that's never a bad thing.

While it's true that he's not a great character, I really enjoyed what you did with him. Yes, please keep coming around, and enjoy the forum while you're here!

Hi, dominicjgm! Welcome to the forum. Hope you stick around, we're really a pretty reasonable bunch overall. Haven't listened to your story yet, but I am planning to. Oh, and I just looked at the tweet that brought you here. My personal opinion is that the tweet is getting way more attention than it deserves. No idea who it is, not sure if they've ever posted here.

Yes, very much don't give up. Any new writer is always a good thing where Doctor Who is concerned and even the very best of them get it wrong from time to time. Kamelion isn't an easy character to work with and his other audios and even TV appearances are divisive so it's definitely a compliment that they thought you could do something with the character! KBO!!

Well I didn't think much of I Kamelion, but Kamelion is a character I have always hated anyway, so this 'Interludes' story was always going to be up against it. The format being an 'audiobook' style reading as opposed to an audio drama with a cast worked against it for me too. As it was free I did give I Kamelion a listen though, it just didn't work for me. I actually found it a bit of a slog to finish to be honest ... but even so, it's certainly nothing personal.
I wouldn't let a Twitter Twit define us all here...
But...since you found our worst - the only way is up! It sure is... Nick might even let him write some Dalek stories!

Just goes to show, and it's a timely reminder, being unnecessarily brutal and blunt doesn't win you any favours. Constructive criticism helps if you provide examples and "what if you/maybe you" rather than child like "I don't like it- such and such is awful/horrible". Or.. If you think you can do better put your money where your mouth is and hand in a story to BF..

I’m honestly surprised it’s so divisive, I had a really good time with it and usually I’m not a huge fan of narrated stuff.

Haven't heard I Kamelion yet (and should really be avoiding this thread until I do!) but I've followed you on Twitter for a while and always enjoyed your passion for Who, both official and unofficial. Glad you've made it to Big Finish!

Just finished Return to Telos. I've always been a fan of Tomb of the Cybermen (was one of the first stories I ever saw and it has a special place for that reason) and the ending to Part 4 with the Cybermat has always made me wonder - especially the point about them homing in on 'human brainwaves', thereby implying one (or more) of the victims had survived (I always thought Toberman). Hence, I was interested to see which way it went.
The Cybermat hiding away in the ship works quite well (thought not the solution I had). I suppose the issue here is that two key leads are entirely recast - Parry and Hopper, with neither sounding like their original actors. I appreciate that BF cannot do everything and options are limited, it did detract a bit as I found it hard to picture the characters again.
Other than that, it is a standard story. Enjoyable enough - I preferred the first half as I thought it was more claustrophobic/atmospheric, but it did mirror the structure of the Tomb of the Cybermen quite well (first half wandering around a confined complex, second half the awakening of the Cybermen). Although I quite liked the idea of the Cybermen being reconstituted for military purposes, I feel this idea has been done before, so it wasn't entirely new. The ending was also quite predictable as well.
Nothing fundamentally ground-breaking here, which I suppose was never the case for a box set that is cashing in on nostalgia. I did love the 1960s Cyberman themes/motifs - the voices (thankfully the Tomb versions are not used excessively), the sound of the X-Ray Laser Gun and the operating Cyber Control. I also had to smile at the fact that the musical cue from the Wheel in Space was used in the Cyber Control as well.
As ever, this story fits into a wider arc with the Fifth Doctor's timeline being manipulated again (though we've had the Locum Doctors doing this a few years back). It will be interesting to see where this goes and the conclusion in the second box set. Whether we needed more 'Adric drama' is unclear - but it seems as if BF is making this the defining moment from that era. Whilst I can see why they would do that (and I think it is a good way to go with character development) it does jar with the approach on TV - it was not picked up really in the JNT era except a few lines in Timeflight and Caves of Adronzani. Had the event led to a 'darker' 5th Doctor, eventually regenerating into the 6th, it might have been more powerful.
Not a bad story, it works as a great slice of nostalgia. I would like to see different things with the box sets as they settle down - sequels need to stop now.

Finished Secrets of Telos. I didn't really enjoy part 1 in most aspects, but apart from that I thought the story was excellent. I loved the Cybermen voices and Professor Parry was a great character. I hope to revisit Tomb of the Cybermen on Britbox after re-visiting Evil of the Daleks in colour.
I, Kamelion over the week with God of War on next weekend.

I enjoyed God of War a bit more than Secrets of Telos. Can't wait for the second Forty box set.
No offence but I think some people are being a bit unfair to the new Big Finish slogan and ident. I don't really mind it and didn't see any flaws until people on here pointed them out.

I really enjoyed TELOS but found “God Of War” just a little too short to fit so many ideas in while still following a standard (meaning not experimental) structure. I think there’s a great four parter in here and a mediocre 2 parter. Disappoints me as the ideas were very much up my alley.

Finished off “I Kamelion” tonight and found it charming, probably my favorite Kamelion story and it was well written and performed. I hope they keep these Interludes stories coming and hope the next one is another strong story.
