The script has been released.
A few observations from a quick read- -The script specifies which version of Rasputin by Boney M is to be played, namely the Majestic remix. The specificity of this just amused me. -The Eighth Doctor is scripted to appear as a separate figure standing beside the shifting robed figure. -There’s some more brief scenes clarifying a little how the Master-Doctor is causing destruction. -The Fifth Doctor-hologram reverts back to Thirteen before saying the line about missing Tegan. -The Fugitive Doctor-hologram has more lines, bragging to the Master-Doctor that the Doctor only knew about her form because of him. -The script suggests the laptop at the companion meet-up might have Martha, Ryan or even Jackie Tyler on it. -The Thirteenth Doctor’s final lines are in a slightly different order, with “tag” coming before wishing she knew what happened next. -The regeneration is open ended.

Oh and there’s an entire scene of the Master as Rasputin being shot five times and thrown in a river between his degeneration and popping up to kill Thirteen.

Interesting the extra dialogue would actually make the fact The Master doesn't recognize her even odder. Regards mark687

I wonder what that's about. I didn't mind the robe stuff - it reminded me of Planet Of The Spiders and, frankly, spared some waistline blushes! But not sure why McGann would be separate to them literally as well as sartorially!

Something I'm surprised hasn't come up much on here, well it's twofold actually: 1) how not funerary the tone of the entire episode is, especially compared to basically all the other regen stories. For all the death and regeneration, it's actually not maudlin or sad, even at the very end with the ice cream and group scenes.
And 2) the regeneration itself, pre-Tennant showing up. It's not only comparatively low key, but really optimistic. The Doctor passes away at peace and happy, on her terms - even 12's was still tinged with a bittersweetness. It's a pretty good summation of 13's big kid nature and 'tag' feels like the perfect words to send her off. She wouldn't give a big speech or do some longwinded introspect (which of course is not a bad thing in and of itself, but given how many times we've done this, it feels notable when it's not.)

The script has been released. Thank you! I enjoyed reading it. It cleared up some things I didn’t understand in the dialogue. The extra scenes & lines in the script are interesting, deleted scenes or never filmed. We get to see what could have been. One the other hand, I also liked the lines that weren’t in the script but were in the episode. 😁 Enjoyment of this special was enhanced by watching it & reading the script. 👍🏻 Now hoping for the novelization with more extended scenes. 😊

I love all these people. What an adorable photo - David Bradley looks more like William Hartnell than ever in this one!

You just see the joy this gave them. I am very happy for them all. Indeed. 😊 I always thought The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot was a bit poignant, even though it was meant to be a comedy spoof. I’m so very happy they are in this special. 👍🏻 Watching it without spoilers, without expectations, it took me by complete surprise. Certainly, one of my most memorable experiences this year. 😄

As the new steelbook of the specials is out, my thoughts on them, including Power, which I avoided discussing intentionally!

The Power of the Doctor commentary is an utter joy. Plenty of little nuggets of information and I adore hearing Jodie, Mandip & Chris Chibnall together. I wish they’d done more commentaries and I wish that their dynamic had shone more in marketing. We know Jodie & Mandip are close and bonkers, but it extends to Chris too and you bet glimmers of it in his DWM interviews, but feels like you scarcely saw him beyond that.

I've been thinking more and more about Power of the Daleks this past week, and I think some of my opinions are shifting in retrospect. In some areas, I think it's a better story than I initially thought -- and in others far worse. (Snipped for longness) This review is bang on the money in my opinion - well put, Kestrel.

I gave this a rewatch to see how it stands up without surprise on its side. I think this is the modern series’ equivalent to The Five Doctors. It has one singular purpose, fan service, and the plot is really secondary to that. You can very easily pick holes in the logic behind much of the plot, but ultimately that’s not really the point of the story.

I cannot wait for the DVD to come out and to get my hands on that commentary. No Bluray player? I do not have a TV at home (mental health reasons). So the only thing I have is a DVD player in one of my laptops.
So that is the way I go.

My Doctor Who collection is almost entirely digital, which is super convenient (and gives me more shelf space for my ungodly collection of starship models, among more practical things) but they never do commentaries or BTS stuff digital.
