Seems Gatwa’s on set, and in a costume variant.

So the latest rumour is that Tom Baker will be in one for the 60th specials but rather than being the curator he will be Digitally de-aged to resemble how he looked in the 70s

Seriously - please don't do it.

Yeah, it would just be so expensive for no reason when we’ve just had four classic doctors return without any of that and there was zero issue with that.

What, and I'm highly sceptical, if it's there for a flashback to Star Beast as the Doctor remembers it last time?

What, and I'm highly sceptical, if it's there for a flashback to Star Beast as the Doctor remembers it last time? That sounds a fair suggestion. I very much hope, in any case, that this isn't a rewrite-history story but a sequel, and it's not as if tv viewers need to know much more than it's an old enemy.
As to whether I think it's a good idea to digitally de-age, I think I'd hold off giving an opinion until I knew the context. When we've seen old Doctors they've either been older because of timey-wimey, or (effectively) ghosts. A flashback would be a different thing, though.
On the other hand, Tom Baker looks so frail nowadays that I doubt you'd ask him to play the Doctor and then get de-aged, they'd probably either use an entirely digital Doctor or hire somebody else and draw the Doctor over him (like they did with the Shada animation {Spoiler} ... except, of course, for THAT cameo )
(Incidentally, is this actually easier than cutting Tom Baker out of some original footage? He played the role for seven years, there must be enough stuff on film that could be upscaled)
(Interesting, though, that with 'Iron Empire' *finally* seeing the light of day in Vworp Vworp 5, we're getting sequels to perhaps THE two most loved comics stories for the 60th Anniversary)

Oh, and is anybody else shocked that we're seriously talking about classic Doctors in the 60th Anniversary special, when everybody thought "The Day of the Doctor" and "The Fiveish Doctors Reboot" would be their final hurrah?
Which of us, back in the 1990s, even thought that DW would reach either anniversary on tv?
Great days to be a fan.

I love the Fourth Doctor, I've found many of his Big Finish Adventures wonderful, my hunger for new stories is very well fed, we even had the joy of Tennant and Baker together for Out of Time.
A little cameo in the 60th would be fun, perhaps a distorted hologram or a silhouette watching from a distance.
A flashback where we see the Doctor's past encounter with Beep the Meep could be why they may be looking at de aging?

I fully admit that I find the whole practice of de-aging creepy. But apart from that... I think the biggest question will be if Tom will agree to something like that... If he is okay with it, and it is in a believable story context (and not just a gimmick), I could re-consider.

Doesn’t Tom need a cane to walk these days? Are they going to digitally de-age hia knees and back as well?

I would hope they’d just use the Time Crash excuse and say that, because of temporal shenanigans, the previous incarnations look as old as the current Doctor actually is.

A flashback where we see the Doctor's past encounter with Beep the Meep could be why they may be looking at de aging? That’s what instantly leapt to mind to me when I read the post. I don’t think it’ll quite be a de-age like we’ve seen in The Irishman or the upcoming Indiana Jones film. If it is a flashback, I’d think it’s likely going to be more on the lines of getting a double in, with Tom’s likeness overlaid and new dialogue from him for a brief moment. At most they’d record his dialogue performance to help out. If it’s true, of course. I can see the benefits if it’s a flashback, which is where my mind was drawn to, rather than bringing him back for a “current” appearance.

A flashback would seem more justified, but tbh everything so far has pointed to an all-out remake of The Star Beast rather than a sequel.

I love seeing Easter eggs with Doctor Who, little nudges to the history of the show, for example the classic Cyberman head in Dalek or the 10th Doctor reminding The Master of Axons. Hopefully we'll get plenty of history references but nothing too painful or forced.
