At some point I really need to take Zagreus 's chronology and run through the series in order. I've heard most of them, but always in isolation. Need to get a better view of the bigger picture Back more directly on-topic (I can re-rail threads too!), finishing up my relisten of Bloodlust tonight. I'd totally forgotten that Episode 12 is entirely dialogue between Maggie and Angelique. Well done, everybody who contributed to that! Yeah, that little two-hander between two DS goddesses was a brilliant way to present one episode! I am WAY overdue for a re-listen to Bloodlust.

So when I listened to the first episode of this, I immediately recognized the theme tune. I don't remember if any of you remember me saying that a friend I used to play with after school would turn the show on when we got together at his house. He mostly turned the sound off, but I remember he found the melodramatic aspects of the show amusing for some reason. That theme tune and the black and white images are the sum of my childhood memories of Dark Shadows.
Now I'm rather wondering how these Bloodlust episodes relate to the original story line of the show.

They relate to it in so many clever and wonderful ways, but they don’t require it at all. However, it is a natural continuation because so many of the original characters are present, some twenty years later, with many new and wonderful additions. For newbies, it presents a complete and satisfying story on its own that doesn’t get bogged down in continuity, much like the original series. For original fans, it’s a love story that both honors the original, and plunges us into a fascinating new drama! We know the core motivations of the original characters, so these episodes elaborate from that standpoint...but without getting too heavy for new listeners to form brand new attachments.

I've never seen the original series, but I really enjoy what Big Finish does with the franchise. Bloodlust was a particular treat.

Bloodlust does seem to be a good story, so far. I'm waiting for more of the episodes to be added to the Listeners' discount list.

The one that stuck out for me in Bloodlust was Melody saying someone "fancied" Michael to mean they thought he was hot when I can't think an American would say that. It doesn't take me out of it at all when these things happen though. As I said to someone complaining when Peri said some British-ism on Who, she's an Anglophile who watches a lot of British telly on PBS. Problem solved. There's also American actors and American directors involved; all of must have felt the line fine.

As I said in the same post you quote - I couldn't care less when they creep through and it doesn't have any bearing on me at all. Nearly a week on though and still no-one from the States has said "no, we say that all the time", beginning to think it's because they don't, you know!

And I don't mean refuse to say it, *obviously*, but they can change them to fit. But when scenes are recorded in America with American actors and American directors having been approved by an American producer and American proofers and then people says "Americans don't say that" I can't help but think it's a more nuanced issue than a lot of people think.

I usually don’t adopt accents or regional phrases — HOWEVER, I must admit that I find myself saying “brilliant” often, with the British usage (“great”, “cool”, “fantastic”), rather than the American usage “extremely intelligent”, and I don’t know why or how that happened! I think much of my dialect and accent comes from television and film, being such a pop culture fanatic. Apparently, I’m watching a lot of British TV (or should I say, “telly”). So maybe there’s a good explanation for the occasional instance! The world is smaller and smaller, and many people “get around” a lot more, or at the very least, are readily exposed to a more worldly experience.

I'm currently enjoying the idea that the actors could down tools and refuse to work, à la Carry on at Your Convenience.
KLS would lead the way yelling: "Daisy's character says 'fancies'? EVERYBODY OUT!"
(Thinking about it we should so change the end of Bloodline to have everyone running around to Yakety Sax.)

The "Everybody Out" trope is pretty much the only thing I remember from that film. I think I've repressed the rest of it.
And don't worry. I've already spent two hours thinking how to rework a Windcliff character's back story.
I don't know what lazy days are right now.

Am just getting intrigued at moment by Dr Lang in the Tv Show cannot remember him in any of the audios

Indeed. The better planned you are, the easier it is going forwards. But it's nice to have a surprise when you're writing too.
Doctor Lang is... something else. Dark Shadows Every Day describes Addison Powell as "the worst actor who ever appeared on Dark Shadows". And that's with Craig Slocum as a benchmark.
To my knowledge the character hasn't appeared in any audios.
