What is it about Big Finish? Here am I, hardly a penny to my poor old name, and I'm clearly going to preorder this as soon as possible. The cover is phenomenal, the cast looks great. It's got some wonderful feedback on Facebook, and so far, no mention in the comments about Absent Friends! This looks unmissable.

What a STUNNING cover. The international price hike had me reluctantly file this under “wait for a sale”, but one look at this and I’m already doing some financial gymnastics to make it work.

I haven't noticed anyone mention this, but Ramon Tikaram is no longer playing Colin, and has been recasted with Joplin Sibtain. Looking as well, it seems that Ramon Tikram hasn't recorded anything since Series 6 of Torchwood, which is a shame as he was one of the best recurring actors in UNIT and Torchwood.

After her (RTD-penned!) farewell speech two seasons ago, I wasn’t expecting anything more than a one-episode victory lap. A chance to double down on that ending (and help ease the transition for listeners who miss Jack) with a proper hourlong Eve Myles performance.
My memory of the TV show is admittedly hazy, but her arc felt to me like that of an addict who kept stepping away and getting drawn back in. Which made it all the more powerful that she could break the cycle and say “no, this doesn’t get to define me any more”.
With all sympathy for those feeling very understandably disappointed: I’d honesty rather see the character enjoy a measure of peace and pop back for the occasional cameo. The new team has this covered.

We’ve ended up with a lot of stuff that was supposed to be very far ahead but now looks timely – there’s stuff about illegal genetic sampling, there’s still a little bit of anti-vaxxer satire, but there’s also stuff about crypto currency, influencers, AI and even drag queen story time. We’ve also got some actual AI cast members in episode 9. They’re hilarious. who-review.com/2023/04/29/interview-james-goss/I see big finish have embraced A.I voice generating for this release |

It's amazing how one throwaway line in one episode of Doctor Who can just throw a Torchwood character's continuity into a right disaster.

I’ve listened to the first 3 stories and there’s not been a dud yet. I do miss the more story arc focus that the first two series had but it’s also nice to have a change. Misty Eyes was probably my favourite but that’s not to say anything bad about the other two. I just love Gwen and have wanted to hear her confront Ng since the ending of Aliens Among Us and this one a better than I ever could’ve hoped. The only time I’ve been disappointed was when they said in the BTS that Eve Myles’ part of Misty Eyes was recorded in 2019 around the same time as Dissected. I was really hoping Eve found a few days to record sometime last year and we’d get a story or two more in the monthlies with her but that was just pipe dream. {Spoilers for episodes 1 and 3}
Interesting that even though this was recorded before Barrowman’s cancellation they were still planning to go down the route of having Jack go missing in the first set (probably to come back later, but still).
