That is quite the cast! And I don’t know why, but for some reason I always imagined Jason Flemyng would never do a Big Finish so this made for a pleasant surprise.

Looks like a really fun time. My only issue is that Trevor Baxendale has written one, considering he has decided to spiral into TERFdom since late last year, but considering the lead time that Big Finish has on many releases, and that this one recorded at the beginning of last year, I still plan to pick it up, and hope that going forward Baxendale is no longer contracted for new stories.

Really looking forward to this. Gorgeous cover with throwbacks to the very first War Master set. Intriguing premise and lineup of stories, particularly those middle two. And what a cast! Jason Flemyng is a coup and Eva Pope is wonderful and not on our screens anywhere near as much as she should.

Hm... kinda hard to get a feel for what these stories will be like from those brief descriptions... I wonder if there'll wind up being a Master-ish version of Asking For A Friend in there somewhere. God knows there are few routes to a better Master story than just plopping Jacobi opposite exactly one other character for an hour in a bottle episode.

Intriguing premise.
Reminds me, one of these days I should watch I, Claudius.

Intriguing premise. Reminds me, one of these days I should watch I, Claudius. Oh..you absolutely should. If you can look past it being an almost fifty year old, low budget BBC production filmed almost entirely on a sound stage (I suspect you won't have too much trouble doing that...😉) and think of it as a theatre play in twelve parts with a stellar cast of actors...it's worth the effort.

You know, it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out the twist was that The Master isn’t actually in this set. But rather it’s a merely another inmate who’s convinced he is the renegade Time Lord. Maybe even a sleeper agent created by the Master using his hypnosis.
Would be a bit obvious though.

I've seen reference of this Baxendale issue before on other posts, what exactly has he said or done? I only ask because I generally avoid toxic writers, performers etc, once I'm aware of their views.

One of my fave actors of the 30s. They say some do get more conservative with age...and he was born in 1901..

When all the Rowling stuff kicked off, retweets and likes of people saying you can't change gender etc and she was a hero. Also the same when Scotland passed the Gender Recognition Act to allow people to legally change gender easier, he doubled down on that. More of a passive retweeter and liker than someone who makes the statements himself. Which is somehow even more depressing as that's the kind of people with secret intolerance - I prefer to know someone is a *redacted* up front! I'm sure the new RTD era will have plenty for him to passively just like rather than at least have the courage of his convictions and say in his own words. Seems to suffer writer's block there...

Like Nucleus and Davy said, Baxendale has been a frequenter liker and retweeter of a lot of anti-trans vitriol. With the newest Vortex confirming that writing for this set took place end of 2019 into early 2020, it wasn't a known fact by BF that Baxendale was spouting this crap, so I still plan to buy it myself(while also understanding that some might still not want to), I just hope that there aren't more commissions going forward, especially when Doctor Who is something built upon kindness and tolerance.

Thanks for the updates on Baxendale. Such a shame all this anti trans in the media in recent years. I don't understand why people can be so unkind and bigoted in this day and age.
As far as I'm concerned the only thing that matters in life is kindness and people's health and well-being.
Life is so short and can be cruel, there is no need for these TERFs to be so threatened and intolerant. I've just found out my Dad has stage 4 cancer, there's so many small concerns that really don't matter anymore when considering our short time on this Earth.
I wouldn’t wish pain or loss on anyone but I would like to point out to the bigoted of this world that life is far too short for hate, be kind and offer validation to those you may not understand, if you cannot do that, then just keep your thoughts to yourself.
All that being said, there are three other stories in the set and hopefully Baxendale won't get any further commissions now he's made his views known. Unless he changes his views and apologises, I certainly believe that people can make amends and redeem themselves. I'll probably buy the set as it's recorded so far in advance.

I am Sorry to hear about your dad However I honestly don’t care about Trevrors views I only care about the stories he writes and the quality of the script I do feel that with the quality of the war master range he should hopefully write a good story for it
