You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Resolution, once again.
A great episode of Doctor Who, and one of the best 'festive specials' we have had, in my opinion. If Series 12 contains a few more stories of this quality, I'll be very happy.

Can someone answer me this-In the Pandorica opens, why is there a dismembered Cyberman left in the tomb setting? It might be perfectly obvious to others

Doesn’t quite fit does it? Looks like battle damage lol and then leaving a guard that might potentially kil the object they want to incarcerate-mind you killing the Doctor would probably have been just as effective than a long elaborate trap

How exactly some Celts managed to dismember a Cyberman, who knows. Given the long-term planning of the Alliance, it’s reasonable to assume they planted a guard as the Doctor might get a bit suspicious of the supposed most dangerous being in the universe being totally unguarded.

Yes but how did the Locals get DOWN there? even if he had went up there then retreated how did he put the wooden beam across the door?

Don't think about it too hard, Sweetie, you might break something....

In a sad coincidence with the passing of Terrance Dicks, last week I watched 'Horror Of Fang Rock' and, over the past few days, 'Planet Of The Spiders' (I've just watched parts 5 & 6 in the bath). Whilst I don't know if it's my favourite regeneration story, it's still one that I'm fond of...
Tomorrow I'll be making a start on 'Robot'

I was trawling through old fanedits and I stumbled across something I'd completely forgotten existed: Buried in a subfolder of a subfolder was a four-part version of The Ultimate Adventure, as taken by someone who'd been there in the audiences when it was being performed. Ultimate's the very definition of a romp and Dicks really makes it work. The Doctor undercover as a cutthroat mercenary. A Dalek/Cyber-alliance. It's fun, energetic and carries you along without a care in the world.

Day of the Daleks - Husband and I started in on Season 9 last night. Personally, I think this is the first Dalek story that felt run-of-the-mill to me. The Terminator parallels are kind of fun to a modern eye, but after 5 years away it wasn't much of a return. Up to now, all the Dalek stories felt momentous. Even The Chase seemed special because of companions coming and going, and just being so damn weird. This one is kinda just average. I don't dislike it by any means, it's a pretty solid runaround.
We watched the Special Edition, and I have to say Nick Brigg's Dalek voices are a huge improvement over....whatever the hell they were doing originally. The CGI and reshot action adds a nice punch but not really necessary.
Also gains 1 bonus point for having me nearly crying with laughter during the motor-trike chase. I know Jon Pertwee had a penchant for weird vehicles, but honestly.

At the moment I'm watching part 1 of 'Robot' & reading the first couple of chapters of Terrance Dicks' novelisation of 'The Claws Of Axos'

Genuinely moved by *that* trailer for the Series 26 set, I am now watching Ghost Light. Ah, Ghost Light, with its train stations full of lost luggage, dastardly white kids, the cream of Scotland Yard, creepy neanderthal butlers and maids that disappear by midnight; with its unnatural selection of creepy-crawlies, burnt toast, 'Ratttt-kin', lady-like, 'Scratch this, Dracula' and, let's be honest, one of the greatest ensemble casts Doctor Who has ever had. An astonishing Doctor Who story, and an astounding bit of television. And - great news - Marc Platt continues to write for Big Finish!

Continuing with my New Who rewatch with Love & Monsters. I don’t make a point of rewatching this one often so wondered if it might improve after not seeing it for a while... but nope. There are some good bits in it, but the rest is still pretty awful - I think it’s the first New Who episode that I actively dislike, even the more average ones earlier in the series have some redeeming quality about them. The fact it comes after the pretty amazing Impossible Planet/Satan Pit two-parter doesn’t help it at all.

And the more people talk about how much they don't like it, the more it makes me think back on it and all of the things I love about it. So thanks!
