Interesting. Quite a hike from £0.51 to £1.25 if only ordering 1-2 CD titles. Then again I don't often order a single title at a time (unless it's a postage free pre-order) so the £4 cap could make things cheaper (especially if ordering box sets). I tend to place a single order at the end of each month for the new releases incurring a postage cost that is more than wiped out by the 10% discount meaning I've been saving a pound or two each month on pre-order prices. Added up over the year and that's enough to make one box set free. A £4 cap now though might mean it's best to just pre-order... Time to review my purchasing plans from this month forward. To the spreadsheet!!

Ouch. So as of this morning, that tacks on an extra 8.64 for international on top of the shipping costs. But it doesn't say what this "Per Order Charge" is for. I would be fine with it if they actually explained it. Does it have something to do with international mail? Some kind of insurance charge? Well, I was going to order the first season of the Companion Chronicles on today's sale, but with this extra charge I admit I'm less inclined for budgetary reasons. Ah, well. I knew the cheap shipping costs wouldn't last forever.

I recommend the download option. An external hard-drive full of GBs of Big Finish, and it's the size of novel!

I recommend the download option. An external hard-drive full of GBs of Big Finish, and it's the size of novel! This is certainly going to push more overseas customers towards downloads. (I'm already there, apart from the odd signed item - the price differential between CDs and downloads made that a no brainer from day one.)

(I'm already there, apart from the odd signed item - the price differential between CDs and downloads made that a no brainer from day one.) Especially when you can burn your own CDs for personal use or get them cheaper elsewhere (Amazon or Book Depository). I'm cherry picking the CDs on sale I really want, which means I'm not needing to spend any money on this sale (I got the downloads in last year's sale).

I recommend the download option. An external hard-drive full of GBs of Big Finish, and it's the size of novel! Actually, it's practically a necessity to buy downloads for me, being a US customer on a budget. I actually have two flash drives for my Big Finish audios (one 128gb drive for Doctor Who, and another for non-Who), along with backups on an external hard drive! Some items, however, like the first season of the Companion Chronicles, are physical media only, meaning this limits my chances of buying such things (luckily there are a couple releases I did buy before this added charge, such as the first two Iris Wildthyme releases). Or at least until my job starts giving me more hours...

Pretty happy that I am also exclusively a download customer. Last big order I did was for all the Confession of Dorian CDs. Glad this went into effect after that.
Yeah I mainly buy things on CD to get signed at convention so this probably won't affect me too much but still ouch.

Well it was high time the shipping costs got addressed. Looks like the dubious "contribution" tag that often resulted in paying more than the actual postage costs, has been dropped.
And nice to finally see a cap on postage. I hate p&p charges but someone has to pay for it, and I would rather see clear charges than loading the price.
Overseas costs seem a bit steep, but then I wanted to buy something from US and shipping & custom charges were going to be £87 on a item £40 needless to say did not buy them.
But. It does seem to be a push in the download route for overseas.

I am sure they aren't purposely pushing overseas customers to be DL only but I am guessing their own costs went up so we are feeling the brunt of that. I will still buy DL & Preorders from Big Finish but if I am Double Dipping for the hard copy (which is rare) I may have to look for cheaper alternatives.
But a bunch of women I follow on Twitter kept getting the wrong CD sent to them from Amazon so other retailers may not always be reliable (I recommended buying directly from Big Finish to them)

When they announced postage charges a good few years ago now when the Royal Mail did that big price hike, they said it was a contribution towards the postage not the actual cost it's a while since I bought a physical product so it may have altered, but it was one of the factors that changed me to download. i bought two boxes and postage for each was £3 (£6) but they sent them together and the postage was less than £3 for the two. i got on my high horse and it was dear Paul sprang that replied, his words were that it was a contribution towards the all the P & P costs not just the postage. But that was the last time I bought a box not on pre-order

So why haven't they just raised the base price of items and said "price now includes Postage"?

There's a new postal charge in town at Big Finish and I'm still discovering its ramifications.
What I can share from my geographical location is that all single release 1-2CDs now cost £1.50 per CD + a £6.50 per order charge for international shipments.
Does this also to some degree apply to UK resident orders?
Your thoughts and additional information will be interesting.

So the Third Doctor box set breaks out like this for me,
$33.23 Shipping & Handling Fees US $3.99 Per Order Charge US $8.64 Total US $45.86 An additional 12 bucks including shipping? My Big Finish purchases look to be greatly reduced.

I can understand why BF have done it, given the change in the financial climate from reading this FB from them. Comment from BF on FB regarding the shipping increases:
Not putting up the postage ever since we introduced it has started to hugely hurt us on physical purchases. This is especially the case on International orders, and we've got to the point where we have to match what we are in turn being charged.
However I don't understand why they just didn't change the individual product prices and say "All prices now include postage"

I understand the Shipping and Handling Free
I'm a UK customer just curious
