Woke up to a new president. The peaceful transfer of power in this country is still the most impressive in all the world.

Not made my day. We have a new president. Depends somewhat on how you define "president" but maybe if we humor him a little while he'll get bored with it that much quicker?

We are one nation.... We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.
Bit of a chill went through me at that. It sounds familiar somehow.

It does amaze me that people who criticise Trump for his intolerance and bigotism then go out and act like intolerant bigots. Truly liberal people should surely be tolerant and accepting of a differing view having won the day.

We elected a man who is disgusting to most Americans, and some people let their anyer cause them to do stupid things, while other people will just take any excuse to break stuff. I don't think there's really anything funny about it though.

Not made my day. We have a new president. Word. I don't blame the president's, they are as ashamed of some American's showing up just to cause violence, as I am. Busting out windows, burning cars, throwing bricks at police officers, just a matter of time before somebody dies, if the police don't take control of the situation.

If he keeps all of his promises, he'll be impeached. Either way, I doubt he'll last four years. I don't get the impression that he really wants to do all of the work that being president entails.

Trump himself said there would be riots if he lost. Given the aspects of America that he awoke, I don't think there was any outcome that wouldn't have led to riots.

I voted for him, because I am just fed up with the gridlock in Washington, and I don't mean the traffic. I voted anti-incumbent in every field. I even voted for the democrat running against Phil Roe, i'm sick of lifetime politicians, making more a year retired than I do in a decade.

I had an invite to Washington, and I had to work, and wouldn't have fought that traffic unless Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson or Babe Ruth was gonna be there. Most of the folks who voted for Trump who could afford to go to Washington, have jobs to limit them from going. But, I am on my way to the local VFW to have a party, just as they do every inauguration day. It's Miller time, I hope we can continue to talk politics, civilly. Cause we gonna have lots to talk bout for the next year anyway.

I don't get the impression that he really wants to do all of the work that being president entails. My main hope is that his self-worship, or rather, worship of his image (rather than himself) keeps him in line. As long as that's his #1 concern, he'll probably back away from doing anything too horrible. He did indicate already that things like "Jail Her!" was just a dishonest rally cry. He doesn't actually want to repeal Obamacare, unless it's to replace it with "insurance for everyone" - which, whatever the legislation would look like, would necessarily go farther left than Obama managed. So I dunno. I don't want to have a long political exchange. I'll say this last bit: as much as I despise Trump, I think there's some hope in what I just described; then again, he has a predilection for shooting from the hip and sometimes you can't take things back when you're the President. Fingers crossed, liquor cabinet filled.....

I cant help laughing at the 95 people who got arrested, they showed up with hammers and destroyed private property, yeah, that will show Trump. It's disgraceful. It's also absurd: if they cared so much that they'll go destroy other people's property to "protest" Trump, where were they during the election? Why weren't they campaigning for HIllary or whomever they supported the whole time? (I doubt they were). As much as I despise the man, Trump won. End of story. Why riot? Rioting is doing exactly the same thing that some people on the American left thought would be perpetrated by Trump supporters who accepted the notion that if he lost the election was rigged, but Hillary won. Shoe's on the other foot so they're going to do it? Shame.

Today is a hard day. Eight years ago America took a huge step forward and today it feels like we took several huge steps back. I said this almost two years ago when Trump announced to a crowd of cheering actors, the dude is a con man. He is P. T. Barnum in a expensive suit. He knows who his audience is and he plays them like a fiddle. In the days since his winning the electoral college he hasn't been draining the swamp instead he has been dumping as much fetid water into that swamp as fast as he can. Instead of call for unity, his speech today was an apocalyptic rant about an America that really doesn't exist except in his mind and in the steady drumbeat of fear, anger & isolation that is this nation's frightwing media. Trump's America is not a place I want to be a part of. Trump's America is not a place I recognize or the place I grew up in. So yeah, not a good day.
