Really excited about this. I know we've seen it coming a mile away but still it's incredible finally seeing the actual announcement on the Big Finish news page. Had to look at it three times before I could believe my eyes. Isn't all of 30 days since the War Doctor announcement either, isn't it? Go, Big Finish!! (You know, it's really starting to make me wonder if they're licensed up through Eleven just for the bragging rights...) Not this week since I already just emptied my bank account again with BF purchases, but I'm certain I'll be pre-ordering the Limited Edition of the Tenth Doctor and Donna. I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty certain they said they're licensed for everything that has appeared on the show up through Day of the Doctor. I wouldn't expect Matt Smith right away though. I'd guess that he would first want to get a little more distance from the role.

Has any of the previous limited Edition releases sold out? Only 1 I can think of is the vinyl light at the end. I don't see the fuss about complaining about something being limited when you have purchased. You should be happy about being one of the lucky ones to get 1 of the 5000. It's not as if the story will no longer available if it sells out. The normal versions will still be available. It's only the packaging that will be limited as the digital download version will still be available to buy(even when the cd version sells out) which will include the bonus documentary I am happy but that doesn't mean I have to be selfish about it. It doesn't stop me from feeling sorry for all those other fans of David Tennant's Doctor who may miss out on this lavish set.

I missed this part on first-read. "All three stories are also available in the Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 1 – Limited Edition set. Limited to just 5,000 copies and available exclusively from bigfinish.com, and the lavish book-sized box set includes exclusive artwork, photography, articles and a one-hour documentary featuring interviews with the stars and production team." If that's the case, it makes reducing the print run of the book from 10,000 to 5,000 seem much more understandable. I'd also think if there's plenty of Tennant and Tate on the extras disc that should be hyped more as an incentive to go for the deluxe just as the RTD content on Damaged Goods was. Might this be one of the restrictions in the contract within whatever David Tennant/Catherine Tate/new series rights? Or merely a way to limit third parties selling at greatly reduced costs and thus hurting Big Finish in the process? I think it may be my fault actually. Not going to go into detail but I had a problem with purchasing BF from Amazon. Let's just say Big Finish weren't too happy with what Amazon were saying in the emails I forwarded from them. Sorry, bargain hunters. *Ducks from the rotten fruit and veg thrown at me.*

Yeah but if you're a fan of the 10th Doctor and/or David Tennant, you're going to want to go for the more expensive, more lavish option. Thankfully I managed to pre-order my copy before all the Tennant fangirls get in but 5000 is never going to be enough for everyone who wants the LE version. Are the Tennant fangirls even going to know about it, or be able to afford it? Hopefully it gets a good amount of publicity and the fangirls don't go like "I DON'T LIKE AUDIO WE NEED HIM ON TV." They'll know about it. They all follow a Facebook page/Twitter account called David Tennant News and they basically report anything 10th Doctor or David Tennant-related.

You kids sure know what the fangirls love On a related topic, I always hate reading that when news like todays comes out - "It's only audio" or "Why not on TV?". It's very disprespectful. It seems to be exclusive to audio too - I don't remember every seeing a comment on a Doctor Who book saying "Why isn't this story on tv?" Agreed. I used to be like that myself but my university course opened my eyes to the importance of sound and now I accept that I was an ignorant ****. I think most people just become too used to seeing the visuals and don't stop to think that in actual fact the more important aspect of any type of media production bar a book is the sound.

Sadly, the eyebrows have already been exclusively licensed as K-9's companion in his coming battle with Omega. They hide in a dish of pretzels, upon which Omega chokes mid-gloat.

Fantastic news but I've got to question the stupid decision to make the Limited Edition set only 5000 copies. There's going to be a lot of disappointed people considering how many fans David Tennant has. If all the Tennant fangirls buy a copy, then it's going to sell out quick. 10,000 would have made much more sense. Personally, I like the smaller edition and the price point. I'm guessing BF figure it's better to sell out than to have a bunch of LE box sets sitting around the warehouse. If it was 10,000, I think they'd still sell out. The difference is it would allow more fans to get hold of a copy.

I'm still not sure exactly how I feel about this.
I thought David Tennant was a brilliant Doctor when he was on TV, but with so many other, older Doctors available I don't feel any real need to have him on audio just yet.
Also I am surprised that... There are only three stories of an hour each - doesn't seem like much. Especially when compared to the recent War Doctor announcement. All the releases are in the same month - why not space them out? Perhaps the plan is to release them weekly on a Saturday night! Finally there is the return of the book format special edition. Despite owning four of these type of releases I had hoped that they were a thing of the past. I would have rather they had gone the box set route and included more "lavish" booklets.

I'm thinking they've pulled an FDA in that they've recorded plenty in advance and will release them in sets of 3 say every 4-6 months.

I can't wait for this. Tennant is my favorite, living, Doctor, and Donna is my favorite of his companions. I do hope we get Rose, Martha, Mickey and Jack at some point though.

Looking forward to the audios but would've prefered the story's to be 2 hour format as the 60 minute format has hampered a few Fourth & Eighth Doctors stories in the past.
I'd have thought one of the releases would've contained a classic monster but I'm glad DT & CT doing Big Finish as if there was any doubt our David wouldn't.

At first I was surprised there were no classic monsters in the release, but after some thought I'm actually really glad that this first set of releases puts the spotlight on Tennant and Tate returning. Future stories will no doubt be stuffed with all our favorite monsters, but this makes it feel more like a showcase: The return of a much loved Tardis team.
