There was the trying to add something dark and mysterious to the Doctors past? I liked that because she didn't know, unlike just pretending you weren't the War Doctor.

Why isn’t there a poll for this one? Because people couldn't behave themselves, and because we don't normally do polls for NuWho episodes in these threads. Okay shall give it 2/5 good special effects and cinematography

A small bit of dialogue..a couple of words..and the tantalising possibility of an interesting sub plot.
Colour me intrigued..
Two episodes down and I'm starting to enjoy watching the Doctor on the telly once more. Let's hope this renewed momentum keeps going for the next few weeks. 😊

A planet called Desolation, killer water, a journey through the sewers and the facing of fears... Are we sure this one wasn't written by Terry Nation? That was at the back of my mind, thinking 'Chris is clearly nodding to someone, but who?' It's a bit like somewhere between the darker 60s Dalek stuff and then things like Survivors. Indeed so! To be honest? I was half-expecting the 'reveal' to be that there's plague as well, just to 'round off' the reference... Like 'Robot' with last week's episode, if I have the time tomorrow I'm thinking about giving the original Dalek story a watch...

I was kind of annoyed that the three sides of the Tardis shell were shown before entering it just did not look right at all it was less dimensional engineering and more we have tagged this onto the back.

A big step down from last week for me but I still enjoyed my time with it for the most part. I’ll probably have more to say later.

We did have one banned member, Budnp, tell us overnights would go down to 1 million with Jodie's casting. We'll see about that one - it's early days. I guess with predicting the sky is falling, you can always say "...I meant tomorrow" ad infinitum till it actually does. Did he end up getting banned? Anyway, yeah he was the one who refused to accept the idea that a lot of people would tune into it, wasn't he? *Edit* And thanks to Ela, no I guess he didn't. No, he was not. Thinking on it, I specifically remember noticing that he had deleted himself from the forum.

Hello again.
Apart from the overlong talky bit with the guy in the tent, I enjoyed that. Jodie's Yorkshire Doctor, particularly when she thought she'd let them down, continues to bring great enthusiasm and warmth to the part.
There seems to be a warmth and family dynamic to the TARDIS crew already. They seem very real and forced to trust the strange lady who fell into their lives.
There also seems to be a link to the Pertwee era with a lot of the plot mirroring the evils of the our world. Venusian Akido! Yes! There was a lot of sonic screwdriver use but I liked the problem-solving throughout the episode.
The guest stars were all great. I thought Yasmin was underused. Ryan's Call of Duty moment was hilarious. While Bradley Walsh is proving a valuable member of the cast.
It was an adventure that I found enjoyable and gripping. Not sure about the blanket monsters though? Had the air fare meant the budget had run out, tee hee!
New TARDIS. It's like a cathedral certainly a different aesthetic. I loved the Doctor's lines about the TARDIS. The title sequence is a bit dark but goes well with the very old school theme music. Loving the incidental music too.
On the whole, builds well on last week. More please. Best line of the night, "It's the Bake off Tent. Mary Berry's an alien!" from my daughter.

Alright, so hot take: Won't win points for originality, but it's paced and structured well enough so its never boring, it looks great (dig the new console room too. Definitely looks like the TARDIS has been recalibrating for quite some time), and Jodie and the new team are really proving to be something. She balances commanding, brave, concious and even a little uncertain and doubtful really well. Also good is that they do acknowledge Grace's passing and indicate that yes, it's something Ryan and Graham are still dealing with and doesn't just vanish between episodes.
The race element likely helped the episode past its very familiar hodge-podge of plot elements, so I was never annoyed. Plus, the little jokes and references were quick and didn't draw excessive attention to themselves, which is how it ought to be. It's the definition of 'decent family viewing', a perfect summation of a 3 out of 5 story. Maybe a .5 more because the gags did make me laugh constantly. Not as good as Smile, but I'd take it over Witch's Familiar or Into the Dalek any time.
I predict the Call of Duty gag will be doing the rounds on social media before long.

Don't like the titles though maybe I'll get used to them. The whole race thing reminded me of Enlightenment. Was glad they explained about the translators as how they could understand the aliens was bugging me. Venusian aikido was a nice touch. Though Ryan running into the middle of robots was just stupid and didn't seem to fit in with character and rest of story.
Ending felt a bit rushed as racers didn't seem to have any leverage and organiser just caved into their demands really easily. Half expected the Doctor to click her fingers to open the Tardis. But loved hearing her say she'd lost her key and the Tardis just opening.
Got better as it went on and is a fine story. 5/10

Now, the whole 'Eternal Child' and the Doctor 'not knowing' could be seeding something bigger than just whatever S11 is about (though family seems to be a key running theme thus far, so who knows) and be a hint as to where Chibnall's 'five year plan' may be heading (maybe he'll settle the Lungbarrow debate at last?). It's also not as sign-posty as say, Bad Wolf or the Hybrid were. Of course, I expect someone has already started procliaming 'IT'S SUSAN' because of it's always Suasn (well, either her or Omega).

If there was a poll for The Ghost Monument I'd give it another 4/5, as I found it very enjoyable. But the new version of the theme will take some getting used to.
