And JNT getting rid of the sonic didn't do much for the stories, did it? For all it's called a magic wand, I'd rather we have it than have to spend 5 minutes figuring out how to open a door or turn something on. Agree with you there, I don't blame the Sonic so much for being magical so far even when I would agree it was overused in Ghost Monument, if everything else you're trying to do with an episode leaves you only 10 or 15 seconds for a magical resolution of some kind. I almost wish the quest to regain the TARDIS could have been a two-parter to better accommodate everything, but that may not have fit Chibnall's vision for the dynamics of season and I'm probably okay with how it worked out. Still, probably better than JNT/Cartmel substituting it with Ace's Nitro9. I mean, that was basically the sonic, just more 'radical, dude!'

Ace: Wicked! The SFX team had lots of pyrotechnics to burn after all... But yeah, I liked the Day of the Doctor take of the three doctors working to get out of the (un)locked door skit, all 3 combined sonics working together - I just blame 'Arry Potter for the shift in its pre-eminence as a magic wand. Kids like it though. I guess I would have as a kid if there were toys to buy. I admit I bought a couple when BBC store closed down (3 & 8) as 'ornaments' for the VHS/DVD shelves (um, ahem). Bah humbug! A sparkling/fizzing baseball bat would have been cool for school in 1987.

Greg Austin - Charlie from Class on tonight's ep. Comments a rather predictable deluge of "Well Class was worse", "No, Class never got a chance..." to and fro. To be fair, there's a reason those replies would be predictable.

This was poor. It has good concepts but the 45 minute format hurts the story. The Stenza are neat though. They're not the Predator clones everyone thought they were going to be. The galactic race idea is cool too. Sort of Death Race inspired? Jodie is terrific. She's really stepped into the part.
