Since when hasn't the Doctor gone out of his/her way to avoid killing? But, just sticking to this season, let's recap:
Episode 1 - She gave "Tim Shaw" the option to leave on his own, and when he didn't, she set off the damn bombs she knew he'd absorbed into his DNA.
No, "Tim" still decided to kill the Doctor and her friends despite the Doctor giving him the chance to leave peacefully, and thus blew himself up because he didn't realise what he had absorbed.
The Doctor then told off 'crane man' (forget his name) for pushing "Tim" from the crane. That's "Tim" who had wanted to abduct him and keep him in permanent semi-death as a hunting trophy. I was with 'crane man' on that one, I must say.
Fair enough. Still, she knew what would happen when he hit that button, and didn't warn him that "you don't want to do that, you'll blow yourself up." She's willingly complicit. And I didn't much care for her "you had no right to do that" line to the kid. He did, it was called self-defense. I probably would've accepted "You didn't have to do that," though.

Given that there's (usually) only one survivor of the Race in Episode 2, Art Malik's character is responsible for the deaths of a huge number of people and gets off without even a slap on the wrist. I can imagine previous Doctors doing some some soft of reverse teleport and leaving him on the planet when the winners left.

I can imagine previous Doctors doing some some soft of reverse teleport and leaving him on the planet when the winners left. Everyone who signed up for the race knew the risks going in, apart from the fact that the runner(s)-up would be left behind. That decision is the only bit of true "villainy" in the race organizer's character, and the Doctor figured a way around that.

Okay, just finished watching it as it just went live on Amazon for me in the USA. I rated it a middle 3 - while it's nice for DW to be doing things outside of contemporary U.K., but it still another Monster of the Week, (I can't be the only person who stated about halfway through: "Ripley, just blow it out the airlock!!" and guess what, that's sort of how it ended up.) I could have lived without the pregnant dude - and it just seemed too convenient for an ailing pilot hero just happen to be there to be called into service one last time. Kind of a blender of various sci-fi plot elements.

A enjoyable adventure, crazy frog meets Alien. You should work in marketing timelord, because that's a hell of a pitch.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I quite enjoyed that. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't awful. There was some great character work for our team, but few of the guest characters really stood out for me and there were a couple of cliches happening (I'm thinking of the TNG episode Disaster: "You are 10cm dilated. Congratulations: you may now give birth.") but they stood out more as a result of pacing than scripting.
It was fun, which is all I've ever asked of television.

While I'm enjoying this season i do find the villains to be a little weak, not sold on the no classic monsters idea, stick the Eminence in that way your introducing a classic monster to NuWho that's never been seen on Tv.

Come on Ryan just fist bump him lol There leaving the fist pump until episode 10 when Graham makes the ultimate sacrifice, he'll do fist pump then, it's symbolic logic lmao. Remember this post & my prediction. P.s he'll also call Graham Grandad.

Really enjoyed this one too - characterisation is wonderful this series - every part in this episode had a beginning - middle - end within the narrative. The plots made sense, the realisations as to how things could be solved popped up at sensible intervals. All of the companions had interesting things to do. Not quite sure why there's so much indifference again.
One happy fanman.

That was horrendous ! Manic, boring, badly acted, and ridiculously silly, I struggled to get through to the end. Loved the little alien guy though. Wonder if its single...better than a dyson

I liked it. Yes, it wasn't Citizen Cane or Macbeth... but it was a great bit of light hearted candyfloss at the end of another awful day. Somehow it reminded my a bit of "42" pacing wise and I think I would rank it equally with "42". The group prayer was a nice touch at the end. A well deserved 3 stars from me. It basically saved my day.
Now, what do I think of the series now at the halfway point? Well, it is alright I guess. Still has not reached my favorite series level yet (and I doubt it will) and I am missing the excitement and pleasure that my favorite episodes bring me. On the other hand, I cannot really find any serious fault with it.
However, right now I am much more excited about all the upcoming Big Finish boxsets (River, Missy and Ravenous 3) than I am about any of the TV episodes still to come. They just sound a whole level more awesome. Am I too nostalgic and not quickly enough adapting to change? Maybe. But still, both the TV series and the BF series have a place in my heart, the former takes the light and fluffy entertainment spot, while the other caters more for my needs in grand adventure, deeper characters and slightly more mature/ darker stories. Fine by me.

but I guess they need to keep it light and fluffy and kid friendly. Which is a bit of a shame, really.
Although, this route appears to be immensely popular, so who I am to judge? As I said, for me, it is by no means bad, and it was just the right thing for me this evening.
But sometimes you just need a bit more meat to your bones.
