The more I think about it, the more likely it seems that the mysterious new aliens are actually going to turn out to be Cybermen, albeit of the parallel earth variety. They're the right shape, with ear handles and headlamps and they're converting people, just in stealth fashion. If it really "amuses" them to mock our humanoid form, then they're emotional and not likely to be Cybermen.
Now, genetic alteration and mocking humanity, well that sounds like Yes but...
{Spoiler} They "rebuilt" their planet for inexplicable sentimental reasons and their only real goal was conquering/killing everything. Wouldn't mocking human form be outside the realm of things Daleks care about?
They're a commentary on pure utilitarianism.

However, a thought just popped into my head. What if this is a season long cat and mouse game between the Doctor and The Master? The MASTER Manipulator vs. The Dauntless Doctor. And what if Episode 3, Ed Hime’s, said to be one of the scariest episodes we’ve ever had, is a psychological horror set up by the Master. If you couldn’t tell, I’m more than a little excited for this season.

I loved it, and holy hell Dhawan was brilliant, but I can't help but be slightly disappointed now because it means Masterful doesn't quite have all the TV Masters. But ah well. (Plus Dhawan has done Big Finish before so I imagine he'll be an easy enough foot in the door).

The one thing that really bugged me was the new "Master" doing the whole crazy laughing/etc routine. I know 'evil laugh' is a bit of a trope (wish it was just dropped), but the moment he started doing that it was just.... ugh, c'mon.
I hope it's something like what melkur said.
(I commented before reading. Sounds like I'm not alone).
Honestly, ditto, but I'm waiting to see how the second half plays out. Worst comes to worst, there's always round two. I wasn't particularly charmed by Missy in her first outing, but she had me wholly onboard by the cafe scene in The Magician's Apprentice. Actually, talking of Gomez, she had a nice "shuttered" way of doing Missy in that regard. For her incarnation, all that giddy madness was just surface-level interference. The authentic Missy, the suave charm, popped up the moment someone caught her interest and that (mostly) stuck over Series 10. I rather liked his role as 'O'. I'm hoping that moment on the plane was the exception rather than the rule. He managed to keep it contained for the majority of the episode and you've got to be a little excited for a plan that long in the making going off as... masterly, as it did.

Excellent episode although it did draw a comment of "Really? A motorcycle chase too?" lol. Really looking forward to more.

Loses a point because during the motorcycle chase Bradly Walsh character Graham didn't say "the chase is on" lol.
This Master possessed O's body so does that mean he was in his emaciated form beforehand? It make sense if Missy was the last regeneration of the Master seeking some sort of redemption only to decay & become utterly evil again to survive.

Oh dear, this confirms that Simm regenerates into Missy. Not happy with that! That was pretty much confirmed by the “canon until it’s not” BBC novel “The Missy Chronicles” (also that Missy was responsible for Rassilon’s regeneration). OK. I don't read the novels.

Went back and watched it. I think my favorite part in the lead-up to the reveal is where The Master tries tempting Graham with his files on The Doctor. In retrospect it is a lovely little moment and a really big tell that there is a lot more going on than we, or the characters realize.

The process sounded more like the Zygons, but there was definitely a hint of it not being his body.

I'd think he wouldn't be out of breath running for the plane is he was in a Time Lord body, and it would explain why the Doctor didn't sense him. Doesn't explain why she didn't know she was in his TARDIS though.

I think we’re going to find out they’re Cybermen and the “it amuses us” was a certain someone having a laugh, he was tapping away at thr computer at the time after all. Missy just had a surprise Cyber-army a few years ago for a major finale 2-parter, far too soon to go back to that team up, I'd think.

Drape a bedsheet over a Cyberman and you'd get an outline pretty much like these things have.

That's the thing about pretty amorphous blobs - they can look like a lot of things!

He's almost relishing the Doctor figuring it out "You can do it, Doctor, come on, come on". As much as he wants to win...he wants The Doctor to know he's winning even more. Which inevitably is the wrong thing for him to do but hey, as Simm said, "We shoot ourselves in the back..."

I still think they look like the Voord. I'll be keeping this in mind until Sunday, when I'm proved 100% wrong. It's always fun to speculate though, and it seems a long time since the old show has set up such a fine mystery.
I've dared to look at various comments on social media, and it is wonderful to see so much positivity. People - even the serial whingers - seem pretty buoyed up by this new series. Chibnall must ... stay? Who's have thought? Seriously though, it's great to see. I'm wondering if, with all this good word-of-mouth, is the ratings willactually rise this Sunday (not that it matters really, but it would be nice).

Yes, you're right - the ratings absolutely matter, but nowhere near as much as people go on about on *ahem* other places where there are 20 page threads just on the ratings for each ep. It's binary, really, are they good enough to stay on air or not? If the show is 6-7mill or up after 7 days, an easy yes. The show was renewed for two years even while getting final ratings under 5mill in Series 10 so, really, people do worry over them too much. They look at the "But Jodie's premiere got 11million and the finale only got 6.7million" and see that as a failure when actually that's a curve of "stunning - good" rather than "good - bad".

That's what I found exasperating about some of the reactions to Series 11. It was almost pilloried by its own initial success. Strangely, if it hadn't achieved such extraordinary ratings for its first episode, then no-one would have been able to gloat - yes, gloat! - about how it lost a quarter of its viewers (or whatever it was), compounding for them how the show was 'dying.'
Anyway, for all the *other places*, it's such a relief to stay here in *this place!*

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

The World Shapers was referenced in the Series 10 finale: maybe we’ll get Voord and Cybermen.
